Re: What's my 71 4001 worth

I paid 1400.00 and 1050.00 for my 72 and early 73 respectively just in the last six months .

I don't want to get into a scuffle about value here. Just trying to get my money back out of my bass to pay my rent. If you think the price is too high, you shouldn't buy it. I'm open to a value ...

Re: What's my 71 4001 worth

Thanks for the advice and opinions of everyone who responded. I will consider all of it and, hopefully, I can keep this one. Of all my vintage stuff, this was the most difficult one to acquire. As I mentioned, I've owned 5 different ones and the E string on this one is the only one I've owned that ...

Re: What's my 71 4001 worth

Right but are you a player or a collector? If you're into them for playing, the new ones are just as good. (I would say better but I know many here will say I'm wrong about that.)

I've been playing for 20+ years and owned 5 Ricks in that time. I play bass for a living - all my basses are ...

Re: What's my 71 4001 worth

What do you mean by a "Ric with all the trimmings"? There a plenty of good ones out there for around $1.5K or less, basically the same cost (or less) compared to a new American Fender bass.

The features on a pre-73 make it a lot more collectible/valuable on the open market than say, a new one ...

Re: What's my 71 4001 worth

Funny, I sold my first Rick for a Jazz Bass too.

I sold an early 70s jazz + cash for this Rick.

I emailed you back Kevin. I really need to think about this because I'll, likely, never be able to afford a Rick with all the trimmings again. If the market is so sketchy, I may be better off selling a ...

What's my 71 4001 worth

I hope it's ok to post this here.

Well. hard times are setting in and i may have no choice but to sell my 71 Rick. I'm not really sure what it's value is and I was hoping some of you could help me to assess it. It's a really great example.

It has - Flat Grovers, Walnut HS Wings, Full width crushed ...

Yeah - IMO - that price is good - for two of them (with some cash left over). Good luck!

Re: Family foto V2

I have to apologize here - I didn't mean to hijack this thread. I stupidly assumed it was a "post fam photos" thread without fully reading it. Sorry.

Mine is actually a 71 4001 with a RI horseshoe (i would exchange it for a green bobbin PU in a second). The Starfire does have Darkstars.

Re: Beg Steel of Borrow?? No Thanks!!!

I gig around Boston all the time and hard cases are a major PITA - i use gig bags for everything. I have a couple Reunion Blues bags, a Mooradian, an Undercover and some others. The Mooradian is the best for a Rick - the Reunion Blues bag is a little tighter at the headstock than I'm comfortable ...

Re: Not everybody likes Rics

My neighborhood is FULL of musicians - I think Boston law is 11:00 but no one in my neighborhood has ever complained in 11 years - I am respectful about volume/practice time after 9 PM but I unleash whatever I want during the day.

Before gigs, I always test my gear for a while at volume to make ...
