Re: "Micromeshing" a Rickenbacker Neck

1. Stay away from edges!
Thanks Paul.

My apologies for being rather dim, but, by "edges" in this context, do you mean (a) where the fretboard meets the neck; (b) some other edges; or (c) both of the above? And, if the answer is (b) or (c), could you provide more enlightenment?

"Micromeshing" a Rickenbacker Neck

Has anyone ever tried "micromeshing" a Rickenbacker neck (to achieve a non-glossy/tacky feeling neck)? There's a detailed thread on TGP with many positive reviews for other guitars with glossy finished necks.

Re: The Decemberists

Apparently, Chris Funk's 381 is for sale on eBay. Might be a nice pickup for a Decemberist and/or Rickenbacker fan/collector.

Re: Anyone using Dr.Z amps?

Also, for additional sound samples (mostly with a Fender Telecaster), check out this page with a really nice comparison of several Dr. Z models along with an AC30, a Top Hat Royale, a Genz Benz Black Pearl, and a couple of Mesa amps (use the nav bar at the top of the pages to navigate between the ...

Re: It's that time of year.....Again!

I'll add my Holiday Cheer and Best Wishes to All as well.

It's been a really exciting 2008 for me - jumping into the world of music, guitars, and Ric's. I certainly owe a lot to all on this forum for their knowledge and wise council - I've learned quite a bit hanging out here, and I'm sure that'll ...

Re: The Continuing Saga of "Rickenbacker in the Heartland"

So now it's Summer '09 for your 360/12?!!!?? That's very disappointing :( . But, if indeed you'd have to pay $2200 at any other dealer for the same guitar (plus the loss of the $200 deposit), I'd agree that you'd be better off just sticking with your original plan. However, I'm not so sure that you ...

Re: Group Therapy for Ric Owners-In-Waiting

So, Jim, you weren't kidding about the Group Therapy thread. I just found it today. And, having read your tale of woe, I apologize for making semi-light of your plight back in my */12 thread. I'll start adding my good vibes from Central VA to Santa Ana, CA to Elizabethtown, PA in hopes that it helps ...

Well, that and my (hopefully, not too foolish) pursuit of learning to play guitar at the advanced age of 46.

"When you have mastered the entirety of the music from your vast CD/album collection on 6 strings, only then, Grasshopper, will your 12-string arrive."

Re: */12 models - tones, strengths, weaknesses, opinions?

Well, it's only been since Friday, so I'm not yet in need of therapy. Perhaps, keep a desk/chair open for me in the Tuesdays @ 8 PM session ("Hello, my name is Andrew and I'm waiting for a 360/12C63") - well, what the heck, put my name down to bring the donuts to the June 22, 2010 meeting (are we ...

Re: */12 models - tones, strengths, weaknesses, opinions?

12-string RAS relieved :D - at least in a delayed gratification kind of way. I've put a deposit down on a 360/12C63 FG that's currently on order at Rhoads Music. ETA is not until summer 2010, but that's actually a good thing in that it gives me 20 months or so to accumulate the funds for the balance ...

Re: */12 models - tones, strengths, weaknesses, opinions?

Thanks for all the info, folks. It's certainly helpful.

Yes, I did see that Kevin's CW is for sale. And it's certainly nice that the string spacing has been adjusted on his, too. Dare I ask how much? (yes, I'll dare - I'll send him a PM).

I also saw Jason's 330/12 FG (with the extra cool-io JDog ...

*/12 models - tones, strengths, weaknesses, opinions?

Hi Folks,

Having got my 330/6 AFG set up nicely, I'm now RAS'ing for a 12-string Ric. I've been doing some research, but I wanted to solicit some opinions from this group. I'm thinking of either a 330/12, a 360/12C63, a 660/12 or a 350/12V63 (why no 360/12? - I simply prefer the look of the 330 ...

Re: First Impressions of My First Rickenbacker

Update: I had the 330/6 setup at a local shop a couple of weeks ago, and, wow, what a difference. They lowered the nut and first fret barres are significantly easier (and, also, my barre'ing finger is getting progressively stronger/more accomplished as the practice builds up, so that's helping as ...

Re: First Impressions of My First Rickenbacker

OK, OK, I'll have it done this week.

I was delaying because I'm a novice player and I figured it would be worth waiting to develop more experience so that I know what I like/dislike in terms of set-up preferences before going and asking someone to simply "make this more playable".

Re: First Impressions of My First Rickenbacker

Yes, that's a pretty old ebay listing by now. However, at that time, I did download the photos from the ebay listing, created an entry in the Rickenbacker Registry and uploaded them there. You can view them here .

I've still not taken the 330 (nor my G&L) in for professional setup, but it's on my ...
