Re: Finish bubbling

yes, my o6 jg did the same thing. bubbled up and flaked off. i was able to cover the damage with a brass chrome hipshot tailbiece. i almost became ill when i was told the warranty didn't cover it even though it was an obvious factory flaw. i got all kinds of lame excuses like i shouldn't have used ...

Re: What is the best nut material for a 4001?

i used bone on 4003 i used to own. thinking of doing it to my 06. im not worried about the warranty, what warranty. but thats another story. i do like resonance of a bone nut, but i think its only noticable during open notes.

choice of combos

anyone using the ampeg ba210sp or the warwick 150 sweet 15?? these are my choises but not sure which is best. i've tried the ampeg. like the tone but doesn't seem like 220 watts. no way to try out the warwick 150 watt but it is smaller and lighter.

Re: brass hipshot for 4003

ok here goes. i still like how the added weight of the brass improved the balance, imo of course.
you can see paint missing along the side of the tailpiece.

it's easer to see when i removed the ric tailpiece.

Re: brass hipshot for 4003

very nice job david. even though i was disapointed, i'm glad i didn't sell my ric. i'm getting lots of complements on the hipshot upgrade.

Re: brass hipshot for 4003

most unfortunate yes. ric was #1 imo. warwick had a problem with thier adjustable nut. they re-designed it and quickly offerd a replacement. i wanted info on the hipshots brass tailpiece and found out for myself hipshot has the solution for rickenbackers problem.... imo

Re: brass hipshot for 4003

bottom line, it shouldn't have happened, i'm stuck with it and as it turns out the hipshot was an improvement. i just don't have any faith now in rics warrenty. this is far from over, until ric gets the tailpiece problem taken care of. doesn't look like their in any hurry.

Re: brass hipshot for 4003

45-105 is what i've always used. i use stainless steel because i can't use nickel. there can't be that much differance in tention and don't most strings have a stainless steel core? besides there is nothing in the manual about not useing stainless steel. oh and the 4003 i had before never had this ...
