Re: Macca bass strap

Ringo always used a small kit, but this video always cracks me up. Did they find that drum kit at the local KayBee toy store?

As for the strap, my 2 cents is that I ordered a tan Ric strap for my 350 and the quality is very good. The strap arrived about 15 feet too long, but a pair of ...

Nope, just a can of red Krylon.
Did you do a lot of masking or did you kind of just hope for the best?

Re: Macca bass strap

that looks no different than any strap Levy produces. No to sound offensive lol. The second pic though, its way to dark to even make out

To your first point:
I never said it was anything special.

To your second point:
I believe I said, in reference to the photo, something along the lines of ...

Re: String question

Keep in mind that Macca actually does use his thumb from time to time, as well as a pick and his fingers. Like most good bass players, he uses whatever fits the song and his comfort-level best.

I read somewhere that he uses his thumb when playing repetitive straight-eights, though I can't think of ...

Re: String question

Nolan, I just looked on a better monitor and can see the pick in the 2nd picture after zooming in. From the hand position in the 3rd, it looks like he probably is also.

Its really the way he holds his pick that it looks like he's using his thumb. I just watched a video of HIHIHI and he actually ...

Re: String question

Who makes a decent inexpensive compression pedal these days?
Aphex Punch Factory.
+1 on the Aphex - $100 and very neutral. It is optically coupled and has true bypass, too.

As for Paul and the Rick, the two pictures of him with it in the studio I have show him playing with his thumb and fingers ...

johnallg wrote:Nolan, you need compression too to get the Macca sound. And at least with the Hofner, he used a felt pick.
Who makes a decent inexpensive compression pedal these days? I knew he used felt pics with the Hofner bass, but do you think he used them with is Rick?
