4001 Knobs

Hi all,

I'm looking for a set of knobs for my 4001. Will Rick guitar knobs fit the 4001? I posted a WTB ad within the Rickenbacker wanted section.

Re: Hard Decision - Help me out!!!

Hey all, I've made my decision. I wanted to say thanks to the members here, helping me decide on which to keep.

After much playing over the weekend and going over each bass with a fine tooth comb, I have decided to keep the Jet-glo. Not only is it the rarer of the two with the black accents ...

Re: Hard Decision - Help me out!!!

If original, this isn't a run-of-the-mill Jetglo. It also isn't Black Trim (it has chrome hardware and white neck binding). Looks like it has double binding on the body, thin white stripe inside and then the black on the outside. Almost like a Shadow. So it's pretty rare and attractive.

Re: 1979 4001 Tuners Question

I put a set of the Hipshot tuners on my Azureglo, I actually like them. The quality is there and the 27:1 ratio really makes a difference. Plus they are an exact replacement, which means no modifications.

Re: Hard Decision - Help me out!!!

Thanks guys, I'm still doing some research on both of them. Is it true that only 1% of all Ricks were ever painted Azureglo? I was looking for production numbers for 1980, can't find any info. Jetglo's from that era seem commonplace, finding one with the black accents has proven a harsh reality ...

Hard Decision - Help me out!!!

Hey all,

First time post, I need some information on my basses. I have 2 1980 4001 basses, both with non-original hardshell cases. Anyway, I have one Azureglo all original (good-excellent condition) and the other is Jetglo all original with black accents (black pick-guard, binding, TRC) MINT! I ...
