Re: Some tunes from an old band

Was hoping to get some feedback on these tunes as I'm working on some newer stuff I and would appreciate comments & critiques. Don't worry, I have a tough skin when it comes to criticism.

Some tunes from an old band

Thought I'd post some tunes I did with bands from about 10-15 years ago. Am currently working on some stuff with a new band. Would most appreciate some feedback on these. My current sound is very different. And, I'm not the singer, just a player, but did write the two originals. The first two were d...

Re: Waiting On My First Rick!

Very nice guitar and congrats on your first Ric. Hopefully it will lead to others. I've always been a fan of the 610s, the plain jane version of the 620. For some reason Rickenbacker decided to stop making the 610s. I think if you can find one they're a great deal. Here's my collection.. http://i7.p...

Re: '75 430 guitar

I have one as well, although it's not in the greatest of condition it plays very well, and has a telecaster sound to my ear. If there is a down side it's that they are not particularly desirable, and don't bring a lot of money. After all, they were the bottom of the line cheapo Rics of the time. As ...

Re: New Ric Day!

Nice guitar! Good thing you found it before I did. I'm always on the lookout for those, great value on an underappreciated Ric. I've got four of them, three 610/6s, and one 610/12. My black 610 is also pretty beat up and dinged, but sounds great. Came with toasters. I gig with these regularly and re...

Re: Install Hi-Gains on 430 Ric

Back when I rebuilt an old 430 it came missing the bridge pickup. I replaced it with a high gain in the same sized hole. For the neck pickup, I left the guts and replaced the cover with a chrome high gain cover. I can't remember for sure whether or not this was the job where I had to trim the corne...

Yes, the chrome-covered pickups will swap these out perfectly.
Most appreciate the quick response. So the pickups are identical to the Hi-Gains made in '75? I assume they are not the toaster style pickups.

Install Hi-Gains on 430 Ric

I've got a '75 430 Ric on which I would like to change pickups and was wondering if Ric Hi-Gains would fit. The 430, Ric's cheapo line, had pickups with black plastic covers, but am not certain they are Hi-Gains in a cheap coat. I'm figuring since it was a bottom of the line guitar that corners were...

Re: Would you sell a favorite guitar that you don't play?

Well, all of my guitars are my favorites and I suppose that at any given point in time, and a valid reason, any one of them could go up for sale. I'd probably keep my '91 Tele Deluxe Plus for sentimental reasons, but little else.

Very nice rendition. Tough song to do, but you really got the feel of it. Liked your other stuff as well.

A few tunes with previous bands

Here are a few tunes I did with previous bands over the past 20 years. This one, an original called Forgotten Blues, was done live and taken from a local TV show we did. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11489051&q=hi&newref=1 This tune, another original, done with my...

Re: Best Source for Strings

I shouldn't have to change strings very often with the TIs, so they may prove to be less expensive, in the long run. Don't ask why that is, it just is, for most people, anyway. Well, true, everyone is different in how they use their instruments and maintain them. Although I could buy five sets of D...

Re: Best Source for Strings

Just curious as to what makes the Thomastik strings so expensive. I gig a lot and change strings often, and I really can't justify paying almost $40 for a set of strings. I've always used the D'Adaddiros, and they seem fine to me.
