Re: The real story of McGuinn's 1st RIC
Does anyone know the real story as to what happened to McGuinn's first RIC, the 1964 360-12 that was converted to a 370-12 and had numerous modifications? Roger says it was stolen around 1966. Some guy in Seattle has it now and says it's legally his. John Hall refuses to comment specifically about ...

360/12c63 with Gold Pickguard?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzgiwio8ngU
Is the gold pickguard on this 360/12c63 an aftermarket part or is it available as a special order option from Rickenbacker?

Re: 360/12c63
Paul I can"t speak for the early 360 12 c 63 models, but I know that rick went back to original specs on these, so that I would assume that the early models also have the 3.5k bass pickup and the 7.5k bridge pickup. Thanks for the info Ron! Does Rickenbacker have an explanation as to why this ...

Re: 360/12c63
So are you saying that all of the 360/12c63 models have had the 3.5k neck/7.4 bridge pickup spec right from the beginning or starting with the most recent batch? Everything I've read online about the 360/12c63, including on the Rickenbacker website, says that the spec for both the neck and the bridg...

Re: Rickenbacker 1950s/1960s Production Run Figures
Smith added the totals to his book without consulting us, and didn't realize he didn't have all the records, which at that time were stored at two separate locations and in no particular order. Other than checking with us first, it's not really his fault. Overall, the numbers are seriously low. It'...

Rickenbacker 1950s/1960s Production Run Figures
This is something that has puzzled me ever since I read the Richard Smith Rickenbacker book. In the appendix where it lists the yearly production runs for each model I was shocked to see how few guitars were actually manufactured and shipped during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Even for some of th...

Re: What Got Tom Petty Into Rickenbackers?
I would say the Byrds also. Of course Petty loved the Beatles but Roger McGuinn was his idol. On July 26 I interviewed Tom in NY for a folk music documentary that I've been working on. When asked about Roger McGuinn's influence Tom replied, "There would be no Tom Petty without Roger McGuinn.&qu...

Vintage Case Dimensions
I was wondering if there is a chart with the different Rickenbacker case dimensions anywhere. I currently have one of those ugly molded plastic cases but it looks terrible alongside all of my vintage and vintage-style cases. I've been looking for a vintage (or vintage-style) case replacement for my ...

Re: 360/12c63
What's the major difference, playability-wise, between the 7 1/4" crown radius of the C63 and the 10" crown radius of the V64? Also it was mentioned earlier in this thread that there was a difference in the body shape and the pickguard shape but I can't see it. Is it that the points are a ...

Re: High gain (11k) toasters vs. 7.4k toasters
Anymore comments on this subject? I'm still debating this issue in my head. I played a friend of mine's vintage 360 with 7k toasters and I thought it sounded a little more bell-like than mine. It could also be the old HiLoTron/FilterTron thing where HiLoTrons sound really cool when you first hear th...

Are standard knobs and TV knobs interchangeable?
Can I easily replace the standard knobs on my 360/12 with vintage TV knobs or are they a difference size?

Re: Seeing McGuinn on 4/17, Irvington, NY
If I got to meet Roger, I wouldn't want to get anything signed, but I would want a photo I got to hang out with Roger for a couple of days last week while we were working on a concert/documentary. At the end of the day, I figured that a signed album or a picture would be too typical and since he do...
