Nice shot, but why is the bass amp in front of you?

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric
Rare happening last Friday - someone actually pointed the camera at me instead of our photogenic singer! It will probably never happen again so I thought I'd put it up. I've only just started using the Ric for gigs again - '04 4003, TI flats, Laney RB8 with an extra 15" speaker, EQ dead flat, both ...

Re: Poor Sounds for E String from 4003 - sound clip...
A couple of other things occur to this non-expert. If you use a really 'toppy' sound like some Ric players then the E string (especially fretted) can sound dull by comparison - just the physics of a thicker and more massive string. Also. I find I get a more even tone across the strings playing with ...

Re: Grease accumulating!
My Ric is always clean & shiny courtesy of Turtle Wax, but it has battle scars that would make you wince! Little dings on the body from the straplock buttons and fumbles with the jack plug, a couple of small chips on the headstock from collisions with low ceilings or light fittings, and from one ...

Re: Rickenbacker's botique won't let me buy spare parts :(
Effective September 1, 2007, spare parts and consumable items outside of North America are available only from authorized Rickenbacker distributors. Please refer to the "Dealers" tab above to locate your closest distributor. Music stores authorized by distributors may also be able to supply many ...

Re: Besides Your Ric....
Hmm.. Hope we are allowed to post competitor's stuff here. So, I also have a Stingray, Bongo, cheap Beatles bass copy from Rogue(which plays and sounds great, btw..)
My Ric doesn't go to gigs.. Too valuable to me..

I have an '05 Fender Jazz Bass, lovely instrument, and an ancient Kay P-Bass ...

Re: Favorite Flats
I absolutely loved the sound of the 105-45 D'Addario Chromes on my fretted 4003. They sounded very warm and rich across all four strings, but the tension of the D & G strings was a killer. Rotosound flats were similarly tight and sounded nearly as good, except for a very dull E string. TI Jazz flats ...

Re: Aftermarket Bridge User Survey
On an unrelated note I'm going to post a review on Dane's modded bridge soon, once I get some pics of it. I've taken a long time on the review in order to be as objective and accurate as I can.
Very much related for me. The Hipshot just happened to come along at the right time to do the job I ...

Re: Aftermarket Bridge User Survey
Cassius, it's a very small sample to go labelling yourself mad - slightly loopy at worst :D . I wonder if it has anything to do with your liking for low tension strings? The Hotpish saddles are kind of free-floating after all, with only the downward pressure of the strings holding them steady in the ...

Re: Aftermarket Bridge User Survey
No wobble here at all with the brass version - obviously they can be made to move if you push them, but they don't wobble of their own accord or while I'm playing. I went for the brass Hotpish mainly for the increased grunt (plus I think it looks nicer - very subjective, I know).

Re: New Ric low output
My '04 4003 is quieter overall than my '06 Jazz Bass. There's nothing much between the bridge pickup volumes, but my Ric neck Hi-Gain is way quieter than the Fender neck pup no matter how I adjust it. It's no biggie - I use different EQ settings for both anyway so turning up a bit is no hardship.

Re: Ricku
To make a deep sound
I must it seems use fingers
But I like to pick
I made sweet music
With a guitar before bass
Old habits die hard
Must I to square one
And learn the right hand plucking?
There goes my rhythm
Jetglow black as night
Chrome shining like moon and stars
Sings with angel's voice ...
