Got my JangleBox II

I have now received my JangleBox II and even much earier than expected :-)

Have not had wery much time to play with it but it sounds great. One thing I was not aware
of is that the 9V battery gets drained when the jackplug is connected even tough its in true bypass mode.
The battery was drained ...

What is the difference between 660/12TP and 660/12 ?

What more than the pickguard signature is different on the Tom Petty version of 660/12 compared to a normal 660/12 ?

Two JangleBox'es in series ?

I've heard that two compressors with gentle settings can work better than a single compressor. Now that I have ordered JangleBox2 I'm curious about
if combining JangleBox & JangleBox2 in series could give some nice results. If not then I plan to sell my old JangleBox.

Re: 12-hole tailpiece for 360/12v64 ?

Its not easy to get Thomastik-Infeld Jazz/Swing Flats over here. I have only found one shop that sells Thomastik-Infeld and they only sell 6-string Plectrum set for acoustic guitar. Btw, they are GREAT. I'm using them on my 6-string Seagull Acoustic guitar and they make this guitar sound ...

Re: 12-hole tailpiece for 360/12v64 ?

Sorry I can't help you with the 12-hole tailpiece, but I thought I'd just offer my opinion that the "tales of terror" about changing strings on a Ric 12 are a bit over-exaggerated.

I've owned 2 Ric 12s, a 360/12c63 and a 350/12v63. Both had the regular 6 hole trapeze tailpiece. I changed one pair ...

12-hole tailpiece for 360/12v64 ?

I am going to change to a new set of Rickenbacker strings on my 360/12v64 and I have been reading some advices
before I have a go. I have never changed strings on a Rickenbacker before.
The strings is hard to get over here in Norway so I do not want to do any silly mistakes

Re: FINALLY got a Ric!

Congratulations!

I can also recommend a Janglebox (compression/sustain effect)
http://www.janglebox.com/jangle_about.htm

The combination of 360/12 and Janglebox is awsome.

I actually bought my Janglebox before I bought my 360/12v64 and it also did
wonders with the sound from my Danelectro DC-12 ...

What 12 string model is this ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-hVopBxkbI
Looks quite like my 360/12v64 but with the hot pickups. A vintage guitar perhaps or a modified 360/12v64 or 360/12C63?

Re: Recommended amplifier for 12 string

I did purchase a Vox AC30H2 and a Roland JC120. The Vox was not cheap but I got a really good price for the Roland JC120. By playing both amps at the same
time it sounds awsome. When playing on those two when they are separated by 3-4 meters it results in incredible sound. It also works to connect ...

Re: Some questions about 360/12v64

With all 5 of the pots at the max position I measured 6.65k ohms at the output with the selector in the neck position on my C63. The reading of the bridge pickup gives a false read (157.4k) due to the in-line cap. Measurements were made with a Fluke 87 III DMM.

I have now redone the measurements ...

Re: Some questions about 360/12v64

I measured only with bridge PU selected and volume/tone pot set to max. resistance ( full volume & full bandwidth).
Remember that the position of all pots will affect the reading since they are wired between the selector switch and the output jack. I will make an attempt to duplicate this for you ...

Re: Some questions about 360/12v64

In theory I would expected a 7.4k DC pickup wired in paralell with two 250k's to be resulting in 7k. Why I measure less is a bit strange.
It would depend on the position of volume and tone pots. Also if you have one or two pickups selected.

I measured only with bridge PU selected and volume/tone ...

Re: Some questions about 360/12v64

As late as his v64 was made, it most likely does have the 7.4k Toasters. But you're right - The only sure way to know is with an ohmmeter.

I guess I have to disconnect the pickups to measure the DC resistance but I have measured the ohms from the jack plug and the instrument says 5.8k. As the ...

Re: Some questions about 360/12v64

I believe you can determine if the v64 has the high output or lower output toaster by the type of screws using in the pickup mount. One type has phillips while the other has a regular slotted screw. Check the screws on both of your guitars and if they are the same then I believe you have the 7.4 ...

Re: Some questions about 360/12v64

Hmmmmmm... correct me if I'm wrong... But my information is that the 360 V64 was equipped with 12K toasters while the C63 is equipped with 7,4K toasters...

Michael

I found some info now. Some sources on the Rickenbacker forums informs that the Vintage Toasters was changed to 7.4-7.5k around 1999 ...
