FINALLY got a Ric!

Post by doesitmatter »

After twenty years of wanting (and watching retail prices climb) I finally got a 1999 330/12 from Craigslist. I had to drive out to Jersey to get it but it was worth it. The guy was fantastic. he bought it new when he was in a Beatles cover band but hadn't touched it in a few years. The way he treated it, I got the best of both worlds, a guitar in new condition but aged enough for the wood to resonate right. I grabbed it on the way to a gig and even though I promised to take my time with it, I busted it out at the end of the first set. Everyone was blown away by the sound!

I can't tell you how happy I am. Ever since "Full Moon Fever" was released I've wanted a Rickenbacker 12 string. And now I've got one.

Congratulations! (I'd be afraid of sibling rivalry.)
Because I told you before- oh, you can't do that.

Congrats on the new Rick! Mapleglo too, my favorite!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Congratulations!

I can also recommend a Janglebox (compression/sustain effect)
http://www.janglebox.com/jangle_about.htm

The combination of 360/12 and Janglebox is awsome.

I actually bought my Janglebox before I bought my 360/12v64 and it also did
wonders with the sound from my Danelectro DC-12 and other electric 6 strings.

I have also recorded directly from the Janglebox into my DAW and I
cant belive I'm making that kind of sound :-)

Now there is even a JB2 version of the Janglebox ( which I have not tried).

Beautiful guitar!

Looking at your collection here... Strat, Tele, Ric, Les Paul. You have some icons there! You're a 335 and Gretsch away from encompassing most of the rock's history.

'Course you'll not be suffering from GAS for a long time, I'll wager. The Ric will see to that.

That Tele's very striking...agreed, all iconographic instruments.

I'd keep it away from the others. They tend to get violent when their jealousy gets the best of them. You'll end up with some nicks and scratches that you could swear weren't there before.

Congrats Jon :D

The Ric Vox combination is a hard one to beat.

Awesome score Jon, 330MG is one of my favorite Rics, and yours is a 12! Too good to be true ...

Thanks, everybody!

And ric, the Vox is a recent purchase. It was the tipping point to getting a Rickenbacker.

I've had it a week now and I haven't touched any other guitar. The action is a little high for my tastes but I'll lower it when I change the strings. Speaking of which, I wish someone had told me how hard it is tro find a set of electric 12 strings! I had to go online just to find D'Addarios.
