Re: Finally got to my 425
Some are set neck/some are neck thru. This one is definitely neck thru. Not sure what drove one style vs. the other? My guess is that back then Ric, like Fender, was very frugal with the supplies in the wood shop.

Finally got to my 425
Been wanting a 425 for a long time. I was pretty specific in that I wanted; mid 60s, FG, neck through. I'm normally not very patient but I wanted to wait for the right one this time. I came across this '64 model online and other than being a Ryder, it was everything I was looking for. Seller was ver...

Re: 450/12 few questions
I'm a recent 450/12 owner myself but I've played/owned Ric and other brand 12 string guitars for years. I'm sold on D'Addario XL's 10-46. Good blend between octave and primary strings' tone and they are true from set to set. My Ric necks seem to love 'em. By the way, congrats on the sweet 450.

Finally, my very own 4001
Struggled with this decsion for awhile. I was torn between this one and a new MG 4003. The VERY competitive pricing on the new 4003's made it even more difficult. I always said if I ever found a clean Ric Bass in either Autumn Glo or Montezuma Brown, I'd go for it. Time for me to put up or shut up! ...

Re: The 450 returns
I spent over a year looking for a 450. Many I found we're just "too far gone" to save...I'm glad to know I was dead wrong. Nothing is too far gone if you've got some vision and a bit of $$. What a stunning resto, well done!!

Re: How long to acclimate Ric 450 before opening Box?
I was always saying that as soon as I found the right Fireglow 450/12 I'd jump on it...turns out the right one was actually Burgundy!!

How long to acclimate Ric 450 before opening Box?
Just got my "new" '76 BG 450/12 overnighted in via UPS from Wisconsin. I've read enough on here to know that I shouldn't just rip open the box and suddenly expose her to this toxic New Jersey air! Any thoughts on proper acclimation time since it was such a short trip? My Wife is getting co...

Re: The elusive Harngelb yellow???
Considering the translation, I guess harngelb is a better name for that color. They might have had some trouble selling p**s yellow guitars!cjj wrote:It's German, gelb is yellow, harn is urine... Really...
And it was a limited color that Rickenbacker produced...
