Finally got to my 425
Been wanting a 425 for a long time. I was pretty specific in that I wanted; mid 60s, FG, neck through. I'm normally not very patient but I wanted to wait for the right one this time. I came across this '64 model online and other than being a Ryder, it was everything I was looking for. Seller was very accomodating and we made a deal. It arrived right before Hurricane Sandy did. Since we were preparing for the storm I didnt have time to unpack it. I put it on the second floor with my other guitars and hoped for the best. Well, other than losing power for 3 days we made it through OK. I finally opened the box last night and to say the least, I was blown away. The finish is gorgeous, it's as light as a feather and the tone...ahhhhhh! I've heard the 60's Electro and Ryder finishes were not up to Ric's "flagship" standards but I honestly think the quality is every bit as good as any Rics I've seen from the same era.

I thought those were set-neck construction?YukonCor55 wrote:I was pretty specific in that I wanted; mid 60s, FG, neck through.

Some are set neck/some are neck thru. This one is definitely neck thru. Not sure what drove one style vs. the other? My guess is that back then Ric, like Fender, was very frugal with the supplies in the wood shop.

I have to say that my Electro ES-16 holds its own compared to my other Rics. Congrats on the Ryder as it appears you purchased from Nationwide? Good guys over there.
Cheers.
Cheers.
