Re: Isn't this a bargain at this point?

I once got an autograph (one of the Badfinger members) on my Hofner bass, I later regretted. I pored over the internet and found others who had the same dilemma and fixed it. I got one of the products, which was OOP'S Multi-Purpose remover. It took the permanent ink black marker off 100 % with no ...

Isn't this a bargain at this point?

If I was righthanded, or a collector, I'd be in on this one.

Re: Measurements - 4001 and 4003

Yes,...but there remains the difference betwwen the 2 models as reported by RIC. 33 1/4 vs 33 1/2.

Why?

Re: Measurements - 4001 and 4003

OK, I messed up! Sorry.

Inside of the nut to the edge (facing the nut) of the 12th fret = 16 9/16 X 2 = 33 1/8th scale

33 1/2 in 1975 catalog.

Re: Measurements - 4001 and 4003

the best way to determine the nominal scale length is to measure from the fingerboard side of the nut to the 12th fret and double that measurement.

For my 4001, that would then be 16 1/16" X 2 = 32 1/8".......4003 Specs indicate 33 1/4".....4001 = 33 1/2

I have a '75 4001 which happens to appear in this ad.

I checked the specs of a 4003 here...

The scale 33 1/2 for a 4001.....33 1/4 for a 4003....are these just estimates ...

Re: Need Suggestions

If I had a blank RIC like that I'd go for a unique color. If you're using a black pickguard, choose a light and solid color (no 'glow'). I think a muted or neutral tone would be best.

Re: Did Rics decline in the 70's....?

I have a '75 4001 but have never played another Rick, and never felt the need to do so. No neck problems whatsoever. Having my bass for 30+ years creates a certain bond/affinity which I feel would be lost on any other. I've also read enough posts on 'Rick Resource' to know how many '70's Rick owners ...

They claim it's all original. What about those knobs and switch? Not like my '75.
