I've been thinking about recovering either the head or cabinet for ages. I thought a red stack would be a bit too flashy so have held off, plus i have a bunch of other cabinets that are all the usual black too...

Well i just got back from band practice and used the Ric properly for the first time.

Pretty pleased with it. Plays easily, still getting used to the glossy neck, but its not a problem.

I recently went through my guitarists Fender Deville for a similar problem and after going through all the common troubleshooting on Devilles and finding nothing, I cured it by sweating any solder joints that looked even slightly suspect and infact many that looked fine. I didnt realy *do* anything ...

I'm in the UK.

Previously I've only briefly played a 4001 once many years ago in a shop, and at the time chose a Stingray over it, so i cant compare it to other Rics, but i find the neck reasonably fast, and the small body suits me well as i'm not a big guy, and in that ...
