It is necessary to permanently modify the arm with a countersink if you want the oval head screw to sit flush. I used a drill press to do this.tj1963p wrote:Is there still a need to modify the Bigsby arm? for the 325 screw conversion? Or will it fit?
Thanks

Re: Does the Sept 1, 1984 truss rod rule apply the C Series?
Thanks, Evan! That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I love how Roger McGuinn so casually tackles truss rod adjustment in his DVD, so I'm happy knowing that I don't have to get out clamps, pads, and or helpers to adjust my C Series necks!

Does the Sept 1, 1984 truss rod rule apply the C Series?
I (luckily) have never had to perform truss rod surgery on a Rickenbacker, so I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me whether the C Series is so accurate that Rickenbacker decided to use the old style truss rod. The Rickenbacker manual famously explains that instruments made prior to Septe...

Re: Oops i installed it again (Bigsby B5)
so i did it again and installed a Bigsby on my 325C58. Hurts a little bit when i drilled the holes in the guitar ! But the Bigsby works well, and the sound imroves a lot. What do you think of it ? Looks great! Now get a Phillips screw on that vibrato arm! ;) http://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewto...

If Lennon didn't play a 325, there would be no reissues to modify!collin wrote: Let's face it, had John Lennon not drilled his guitar for a Bigsby, there would be a whole lot less 325s out there with an aftermarket Bigsby vibrato screwed on.

Re: Alternative case for Rickenbacker 325c58 with Bigsby
As others are indicating, the factory case absolutely will work on a Bigsby-equipped 325c58. I keep mind in the 4 or 5:00 position.

Re: Phillips Screw for Bigsby B5
It took me a long time to find the best size (would have been easier if I had a vintage Bigsby to compare to), but this is what I came up with. I was not able to find mild steel, so stainless it is. Also, I could not find a single local hardware store that carried the Oval Head in this size. Bolt De...

Okay, finally got around to re-drilling the Bigsby arm and getting the right screw: 1/4" oval head phillips drive.

That's too bad. What's he been up to? Did he leave the music industry?

Whatever happened to Al Nichol of The Turtles?
I'm a big fan of the Turtles and know almost nothing about Al Nichol. He seemed to be absent from the "Happy Together" documentary and there's little I've found online about him. Did things with the band end badly? Is he just a private guy?

Re: Test Driving a Tom Petty 12
Thanks for all the info! I forgot to mention my preference of the 7.25" radius on my C58 over the V59, so I imagine that's another plus for the c63/12. I've been using TI Jazz Flats on the 325 and think they're fantastic. So is the consensus TI 10's for the 12-string? I was thinking about tryin...

Test Driving a Tom Petty 12
A friend of mine is loaning me his Tom Petty 12 string to help me decide between a 660/12 and a 360/12 (gracious friend, eh?). As far as 12s go, I've had my heart set on 360/12c63. After nearly pulling the trigger on a blueburst 660/12, I realized that I need some saddle time between the two to deci...

Re: best bridge for a 325c58 ?
The stock roller bridge is excellent in terms of intonation adjustability, but it can rattle a bit. A remedy is a drop of oil on each roller. Since I was going for a Lennon clone, I of course did the bow tie/B5 combo. I found that the bow tie sounds much better in terms of volume and sustain, but yo...
