BTW, what is the manufacture date of your 330?
Well, its a Z serial which is 1986 but the RIC serial lookup states that its a replacement plate. So not sure what the deal is there.
Its got the correct features for the period mid-late 80's though- Rotomatics, paddle headstock, no model number on ...

330 Caps
Hi All,
Recently picked up a 330 used for a pretty good price, as it had been neglected for a while. Was pretty grody, a couple of bridge screws missing and one pickup not working. The latter was sorted easily, just a broken solder joint but this is what I was greeted with when I looked under the ...

IIRC Pick Guardian have a downloadable temple of all the variations of surround, with the various screw spacings.

Re: 4003 v2 bridge problem
Problem solved! I got a facebook message from John Hall who has very kindly arranged for RIC to send me the correct screw, have a tracking number and now waiting for UPS to do their thing, then my 4003 will be back in action! Great result! And thanks again John.
I thought John Hall had retired ...

Re: Old hairpin truss rods
Set mine up in 1990- haven't had to adjust it since.
That may change soon, as my old fingers are finding 45-105 gauge strings hard work so will probably go down to 45-100.

Re: 4003 v2 bridge problem
If that was new this year and you are the original owner, then its still under warranty from the shop (even though the RIC one doesn't apply as its outside the US). The shop should be sourcing this part for you.

Re: Updating the registration of an instrument
Apologies for the off topic comment but question for Rickenbrother/Joey- are the set up videos still available anywhere please? The links in the Joey and Jangle section aren't working anymore.

Black pickup surrounds
I know black pickup surrounds appeared occasionally on 4003s (Blackstar, Shadow etc) but was there ever a 4001 style black surround ie with the straight sides? If so- anyone got one for sale that isn't $120 plus shipping from South America?

Re: Wanted- Plastic keywind bushings.
Thanks but that's the spacers for the rear. I'm looking for the round bushings that mount on the front of the headstock that surround the tuner shaft.

Re: Searching for '76 Jetglo 4001 s/n PL7996
According to my diary notes, it seems it was one year ago today that I started the search for my old Rickenbacker 4001, serial number PL7996, which I was daft enough to let out of my sight for a while back in the 1990s and as a result ended up being sold without my permission. Still no sign of it ...

Re: 1981 4001 BT finish issue?
Ah! Do you know of any good refinishers in the UK? The finish in the era of your bass would be conversion varnish, but I suppose a well done poly (if thin enough) would suffice if you can't find anyone to do a proper CV refinish.
