Looking for the Unusual
Ever the contrarian, always looking for the unusual are the reasons (excuses?) which drew me to Rickenbacker guitars. I was recently scanning Youtube for some Rickenbacker players who played some unusual music on their instruments, e.g. country pickin' on a Rick. I mean can you imagine playing Worki...

Music for Five Watt World
There don't seem to be as many purely instrumental pieces for our favorite 12 string guitar as there are for other guitars. So I thought I'd pass this one along. I hope you find it interesting, and that you'll even learn it, as I am.

R Tailpiece Cracked & Broken
I've heard of this happening. I never thought it would happen to me. My 360/12 is only 14 years old. Surprised? Oh, yeah!

Re: Thoughts on Playing Lead on Rick
One question is has anyone covered the kind of lead territory referenced above with a Rick? ... I'm going to address the first question only. I'm of the option, why not. I'd venture to guess that al least 98% of your audience doesn't care what kind of guitar you're playing. Where's the Like button?...

Re: It Won't Be Wrong - new from The Byrds Collective
It has been a long, long time since I've posted on the RRF. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I am really happy to hear the Byrds Collective is back. The recording sounds top notch. Best wishes.

Re: Tell me about your first Rickenbacker...
I decided I had to have a Rick 360/12 string after two events happened. First was two different friends, neither of whom knew the other each told me that I needed an electric guitar "Bah, humbug!" I thought. Next I was surfing the net, and I saw a clip of Roger McGuinn playing his signatur...

Re: R.I.P. Tom Petty
I heard the news late last night, and hoped the announcement, vague and uncertain as it was, was premature. Turns out it wasn't. This hits me particularly hard because Tom Petty and I are near the same age. When the last of the Baby Boomers is gone, who's going to carry on Our Music? I feel like roc...

New Digital Release "This Old Coat"
I finally got it done. And there's Rickenbacker content, of course. Some of you who have copies of the Rickresource Forum's compilation CDs will recognize the title track, which I've rerecorded adding some vocal harmony. I also recorded a slightly different arrangement of A Reason or a Rhyme . You c...

Re: McGuinns 12 string
In my opinion, it really doesn't pay to try to be thrifty regarding guitar strings. The TI Jazz flat 12 string set is quite admittedly, pretty expensive as these things go. However ...they last a long time and depending on how much you play, they can last many, many months. I once had a set on for b...

Re: McGuinns 12 string
Why would this be on Roger Mcguinn's web site? What are the best strings and gauges to use on a Rickenbacker 12-string? Pyramid Gold The Ultimate 12-String Set. Pure Nickel Flat Wire Wound Strings with Silver-Plated Plain Strings. Gauges are .010/.010 , .013/.013 , .010/.020w , .013/.030 , .020w/.0...

The JB2 is according to the website true bypass. (I never understood what that meant, exactly.)

Re: Are the Byrds still relevant?
Oh man....how do I respond to this question? I'm a geezer. I was a kid when "Mr. Tambourine Man" was a huge hit for the Byrds. I have no idea whether or not the Byrds are relevant....whatever that may mean, for kids nowadays. I should think that any guitar player who picks up a Rick 12 str...
