but I have seen in the galery that some 4001s form the early 90's have been listed:

These bass have no skunk stripe, doe it means thaey are actually 4003s?

Hi Guys,
I have recently found a 4001s with a nice FG finish here in Europe.
The seller is telling me the bass dates from 1992, as confirmed by the serial number.
I am a bit confused here, as I thought the production of those 4001s was over by the mid 80's.

Bought one few weeks ago for 2.8k,
Quite pricey I'd to say, but I was after a FG and could not resist when I saw it advertised.
Seller was aiming for 3.3k but I managed to get a "reasonable" price. furthermore they are hard to find in the EU.

Sounds interesting,
actually I think why not also compairing the 4001v63 to the c64, I have read a lot about these sounds difference, yet never really managed to found a real side to side comparison.
