Jason and Collin, although the original nut is somewhat brittle and was disintegrating, my luthier was able to rehabilitate and stabilize it. So, it was put back on the guitar with the original stringing arrangement.

The fellow who sold me V86 also bought this and sent it to me. The pick guard would fit ... if the '58 325 cavity was enlarged. The 4 knob configuration was too wide for a stock '58 325 cavity. My guess is that Lennon's was enlarged too, once the 4 knob config was added in Oct. of '58. 8)
