Re: Francesco NAILS another!!!

Excellent, tasteful, in-the-pocket bass playing. Great song, and playing it on THE right bass too!

Re: Defective R Tails

This isn't for me. There seems to be some discrepancy on if Ric replaces these free of charge, and under what circumstances.

Can anyone relate their experience, and if they pursued and received a replacement it would be appreciated.

Defective R Tails

Anyone care to say what their experience was returning a shattered R tail to Ric? With a please and thanks, is there any criteria on if Rickenbacker will give a credit?

Re: Jingle vs: Jangle...Vintage Toasters

As I suggest above, wire winding does have a direct affect on magnetism. While different pickup designs may claim to counterbalance this, I don't understand how to ignore physics since magnetism is always the strongest in the center of its field.

Re: Jingle vs: Jangle...Vintage Toasters

I believe the 12k Ω toasters were made from about 1984 until about 1999.... I agree. Maybe even later than that past 2000. I've seen them over 13k Ω. Hot as #%**. Unwinding them is a great improvement (IMO). It will give a more balanced sound, and the G and D's strings will not stand out so much. I ...

It's commonplace in Canada too, and I suspect just about everywhere else as well!

I'm reminded time and again, how important it ...

Re: Keeping Your 12-String In Tune

I just caught this:
...Lots of so-called "techs" hate working on Ricks because they are spooked by the exotic reputation of these guitars, and also by their intolerance for hamfisted efforts to "sort them" in traditional ways. Yet most of what a tech needs to know about servicing and setting up a ...

Re: Keeping Your 12-String In Tune

If you freely switch out Ric's factory strings on your 12 String, and switch to any other, without considering your setup, you will have less than optimal results. This statement is true in any guitar setup but is especially relevant in a 12 String.

I'm the Canadian Distributor of Pyramid Strings ...

Re: Where are The Beatles Vox amps?

There was no store involved in the distribution via the deals that Epstein cut with Selmer and VOX, beyond a convenience factor that amps may have been teched by local retailers (i.e. Sound City). To my understanding, amps were delivered direct from Jennings to the studio with a rider on concert ...

Re: What strings used on Hofner bass?

The stock factory string Hofner uses on the upper end German basses (i.e. Club, V62, V63, Deluxe and Caverns) is, and always was Pyramid Gold Flatwounds (640s) in a short-scale. To my understanding, the reason Pyramid Flats aren't factory installed on the budget ICON, and Contemporary Series from ...

Re: Tail Lift - purchase advice please

Is this amount of lift a cause for concern? I'm looking to buy the bass...
In my opinion, no that is by no means excessive. I've seen brand new basses right out of the case that have that. If you see change on the lift, that's when you have an issue, and while "cracked tails" are not unheard of ...

325 Nitro Tint Fretboard - "Sullivan Spec"

A client of mine wanted to "Sullivan Spec" his factory stock C58 Jetglow. Going the extra mile, beyond the standard upgrades (i.e. B-5, Bowtie, Burn's Knobs, Pyramids) I suggested tinting the fretboard to a more correct "orange" look, and shooting it in Nitro. It involved first bleaching the dark ...

Re: Bigsby B5 (USA) doesn't fit my 325C58!

Hi Daniel,
No, this was a client's guitar that I took from stock C to "Lennon Cavern" spec. The radio knobs were ToneWorks reproductions from Japan.

Very hard to get for sure!

Re: 330/12 vs. 360/12

Playability, until quite recently, was a little different between the two models, as the string spacing on the 360/12 was a tad narrower at the nut to accomodate the neck binding. Now 360/12s and 330/12s come with the same (wider) nut spacing, so on brand-new or very recently built 12-strings this ...

Agreed! Follow the fretboard radius from about the mid-section of the neck after setting the truss, but don't use string height to "determine" intonation - Base height on ...
