4003SW Oil or Poly

I was thinking about getting back into the rick game with a new 4003SW. Are they still using tung oil or have they switched to a thing spray of satin poly?

Re: Saddles Keep Moving - 2001 4003s

OK, so it took this long for L&M to finally contact me. Long story short, they can't fix the saddles or the "buzz," something I didn't actually inquire about. They offered to send the bass to the Yorkville shop or refund me. This bass just sounds like a lemon. I think I'll pickup another Rick when ...

Re: Saddles Keep Moving - 2001 4003s

Disassemble the bridge. Drill the saddle screw holes in the bridge out to the next size up, then reassemble. The saddles will settle down a bit and stop vibrating. Leveling the bottom of tbe saddles will only increase their clearance from the top of the bridge, and make the problem worse.
Then ...

Re: Saddles Keep Moving - 2001 4003s

The bass has been in the shop for a little over two weeks. My local Long & McQuade must be backed up.

Re: Saddles Keep Moving - 2001 4003s

Are these saddles machined or casted? Possible the threads in the saddles are not as tightly married to the adjustment screws as desired.

Re: Saddles Keep Moving - 2001 4003s

I'll give both pieces of advice a shot. I'm going to get the guitar to the tech for a setup. I'm a little disappointed though a brand new guitar needs some adhesive assistance.

Re: Saddles Keep Moving - 2001 4003s

How is your intonation?

E <20 cents sharp
A >10 cents sharp
D >10 cents sharp
G >10 cents sharp

If fact, this is the Rick with the highest action I have ever owned. There isn't a whole lot of room for the saddles to be lowered and the foam mute won't even reach the strings.

So moving saddles ...

Saddles Keep Moving - 2001 4003s

The A saddle seems to keep moving downward from vibration. At first I thought this was odd to have uneven saddle adjustments from the factory but after levelling the saddle again it seems the worm screw (maybe) turns from vibration. Not sure how to fix this problem. Very frustrating.

EDIT: "Seems ...

Re: Introducing the Al Cisneros Signature 4003S

I'll go back to Rics if they start using that improved intonatable bridge. The two-way truss rod is pretty sweet, too.

Warped Rickenbacker Case

Is this a common issue? When I bought my 4003S I noticed the case was a little warped and needed a little assistance when clamping the outside latches. I left the bass for a while and it seems the top half of the case has warped more and I need to clamp one outside latch shut and use some force to ...

Modern vs. Vintage Pickguard Screw Holes

I've always wanted a Rickenbacker 4000, and now that I own a beautiful Rickenbacker 2015 4003S, that desire is easily obtainable. So the question is: would a 4000 pickguard lineup properly with modern screw hole placement?

Re: Dreaming of a 4004Ciii6, 4004L6, 4006...

The 4004 series is so easily modified to accommodate five strings, I'd be happy as long as they produced 4004s.
