Modern vs. Vintage Pickguard Screw Holes

Post by Malchik »

I've always wanted a Rickenbacker 4000, and now that I own a beautiful Rickenbacker 2015 4003S, that desire is easily obtainable. So the question is: would a 4000 pickguard lineup properly with modern screw hole placement?

Maybe, maybe not. Best thing to do would be have Pickguardian make you a pickguard for the bass with no neck pickup hole and just the two pot holes (okay, waiting for the responses to that! ).

Not going to talk you out of the idea, but there's been many times i wished my 4000 had a neck pickup.
As far as screw hole alignment,my '72 and '74 pickguards aren't even the same.
(So Pickguardian would be your best bet, like Jeff said).

I haven't really liked the neck profiles of recent year 4003's that i've tried....but i know they're all a bit different anyway, right?
The neck on my '74 is pretty much Rickperfection......

The reason I bought my '74 in '74 and still have it!
