Maas, Wenol & Flitz are all excellent and basically the same polishing compound in three different tubes by 3 different companies, and all are excellent for exactly this purpose.

Mass, Wenol & Flitz.... there's a law firm name for you.

Josh, I may not be understanding your predicament correctly, but I think the problem is that you have no tension on the truss rods, hence the neck is slanted away from the "top" of the guitar. Add truss rod tension and the neck will start to bow towards the top. By using 12's, you are making the ...

Nah, chlorofluoro compounds are not produced by the ocean. At least not on this planet. However, the ocean is the major contributor to atmospheric chlorine compounds. And none of those emissions are germaine to ozone depletion as they are not injected high enough into the atmosphere to do any ...

I love the sound of my 360's or 660 through my old Ampeg ReverbRocket 2. However, it's too damn loud to play in the bedroom, but quite loud enough for street fairs, tent shows, medium size halls, etc. And I have no problem being heard above the rest of the band.

Ampegs are a great value. You can ...

All that beautiful wood with the natural low gloss finish.... reminds me of something you'd see around Frisco, Colorado on the shores of scenic Lake Dillon just down the road a piece from several old mining towns and ski resorts. That town has the same musical heritage as Frisco, Texas ;-)

Help identifying this model - for grins

looks like a cross between the cresting wave and 330 body style, dual pick ups, appears to have edge binding, but the headstock shape is not quite right. And the scale is a bit smaller than the 325.

Right, the magnetic fields can change, but as far as the metal "breaking down" it can happen only under heat extremes (you'd know it because your guitar would be on fire) or through oxidation, (and you'd notice the rust) but other than that... nah. The metal won't spontaneously change grain ...

Ah, this is clearly something in the category of "art"
It must be way over our heads, hence we cannot understand it. It requires a higher intelect, it is something that is not accessible to the common person. A simple misunderstanding of the "artist's" intent .... nah, it's ****.

I believe that both the conversion varnish and the wood have yellowed. When I get a finish chip on my '75 360MG, both the finish that comes off and the wood under the finish are yellowed. Also in the cavity under the pickguard the wood has that same nice mellow yellow color to it. It is not the ...

Closer to final product..... It's getting there.
At least I'm not embarassed to take it out in public anymore. I played it in church today, and had several people ask "is that the same guitar?" remembering how awful the original looked last month.

Rescuing Roadkill

I have a soft spot in my head for abused Rickenbackers.... I'll never explain it in a way that my wife will understand it. Oh well, it keeps me out of trouble.

Some guitars are so screwed up that they can only be improved. And it's a good learning experience.
I've added this page to my site ...

I am a research chemist in my other life, and work with automotive care products EXTENSIVELY....

Re: Tru-Oil use. It will look nice, I used it on a mahogany acoustic I refinished last year. Tru-Oil is boiled linseed and a couple other "drying" oils in a really old and durable recipe.

On a 360 midnight blue that (this week) became a mapleglo again..... I used the Formby equivalent to Tru-Oil ...
