Re: 360/12 With Janglebox

Steve, sounds like a cool new pedal that's coming out. Kinda reminds me of this: http://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=406018 http://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=406677 Here's a question for you: in front of a slightly overdriven amplifier, will the new T...

Re: 360/12 With Janglebox

We'll be introducing a new JB compressor at Summer NAMM: the JB Nano. Despite it's size — about half that of a JB1 — it's a powerful compressor. We swapped the 3-position toggle for a treble boost foot switch. You lose the "dark" setting of the JB1, but you gain the flexibility of the foo...

Re: 360/12 With Janglebox

One additional thought: There used to be an Asian-made silver JangleBox that was considerably more affordable than the JB-1, but I just checked the JangleBox website, and I don't see it on the Products list anymore. You might fire Steve Lasko (the owner of JangleBox) an e-mail (info@janglebox.com) ...

Re: The La's

Beautiful, chiming Rickenbacker sound! Believe it or not, I'd never heard of the band before. Is it possible that's a Fireglo 360/6 rather than a 360/12? (It's a little hard to see the octave strings in the opening closeup of the neck, although it's possible the octaves are reversed.) In one shot o...

Re: Byrdmaniax re-release

Hi all, does anyone know if McGuinn plans on re-releasing Byrdmaniax without the overdubs? The 1999 bonus tracks included a bare version of "pale blue", so the master tapes must be somewhere. Sony owns Byrdmaniax, not Roger McGuinn. I have no insider knowledge, but my guess would be that ...

Re: McGuinn's Signature Martin

I think it's such a cool concept. I hate playing acoustic 12-strings. I would think of this like a 6-string with a tough of aded chime on the G. That's exactly right, John. You need to approach the HD-7 as an enhanced 6-string, not a diminished 12-string. The funny thing about the HD-7 is that afte...

That's the song! Thanks Paul — I knew I was hearing something else that was familiar in there and I couldn't quite get it.

Re: Roger has the Jangle back

I think many of us consider the classic Byrds/Rickenbacker sound as the intensely treble, double-compression attack of MTM and TTT. But Roger has always experimented. My Back Pages is quintessential Byrds, but it's somewhat different from that highly compressed sound and the EQ is more balanced. Dit...

Roger has the Jangle back

For those of you who've been a bit disappointed with Roger's restrained Rickenbacker sound in recent live performances, listen to the sound he gets on the latest Folk Den tune, "The Month of January". Self promotion aside, I think it's really gorgeous. To my ears it seems like a bit of a d...

Just saw this... what terrible news. Ken was a great moderator and helped me out more than a few times. I didn't know him personally, but by all accounts he was a wonderful guy. Condolences to his family. RIP Ken.

Re: What? No Jangle?

It sounds to me either like he isn't using the onboard compressor, or he's jettisoned his beloved JangleBox. The sound is muddy, to say the least, with none of that signature chime we associate with McGuinn. Roger's been using the house mixing board for compression the past couple of years because ...

Re: New JangleBox pedals

I don't even know what the "Threshold" and "Decay" knobs do. Easy to hear what they do when you have a pedal in hand, hard to describe with words but I'll give it a go. A noise suppressor cuts out the non-musical aspects of a guitar or effects chain. Think of it as a gate on a f...

Re: New JangleBox pedals

When will they become available in UK stores. ( I'm not sure how ordering from UK to USA works- regarding sterling and dollars and if it would be worth it with the shipping costs etc) As of today, $1.00 = £.63. Or £1.00 = $1.58. Shipping to the UK is $45 (£28.63) via Priority Mail. We haven't recei...

Re: New JangleBox pedals

My JangleBox compressor has brought alive my Rickenbacker 12-strings, ever since I purchased a JB2 back in 2010. Now comes the icing on the cake: Steve Lasko has just posted the new J-Gate noise suppressor on the JangleBox website, which means the J-Gate is officially available to RRF members at a ...

Re: New JangleBox pedals

Thanks for the heads up, David. I expect the new noise suppressor will be worth the wait. 8) Let's hope Steve Lasko does offer a discount to RRF members. :!: We're almost there. The J-Gate should be available for sale sometime next week (I have to design the web page today and get it to our tech). ...
