With 0 fret buzz? I'd like to see pics & a vid proving even 2mm w/o buzz at low/moderate picking attack...weemac wrote:I find Rickenbackers to work well with about 1mm of relief. I usually can get a very even action all over the neck this way...

Re: Straight neck?
WOW LOL!!! The title was censored!! I'll admit, I haven't read a single forum rule, but to censor a title that's a merely a play on words with no swear words or vulgar slang is a lil' control freakish wouldn't you say?

Straight neck?
So I've been pondering - while I wait to find out if my 4001C64 is a fake or not - about this whole "Rickenbackers are designed to be set up with straight necks". That's all fine & dandy, but how is it a bass/guitar able to play with 0% relief & be absent of fret buzz? Do Rickenbacker basses somehow ...

Do I have a fake 4001C64
Its a 2002 4001C64 supposedly.... I bought it a few weeks ago from a guy in Florida. The serial number is valid, but i just noticed that I have no access to the truss rods on the body side of the bass. Absolutely no holes are drilled out on the body side.. Did Rick ever make them like this?

Re: 4001C64 fretboard removal help
Fort Wayne, Indiana.... There are plenty of guitar techs out this way, but I only want a person who's touched a Rick before to do this.

Re: 4001C64 fretboard removal help
Thank you again guys... Maybe I should send it in to somebody who's removed a 4001C64 fingerboard. I don't want to have to buy a 3rd 4001 in less than 3 months.

For the record, steam is not necessary. It's the heat that does the trick.
I've seen quotes from other luthiers saying just the opposite "Without steam heat doesn't do much. ect ect"
Who am I to believe?
Thanks for the replies guys....
