Re: Ron Nasty

Because of the potential of a lawsuit "Get up and Go" was kept off initial releases of the Rutles album

One of the NYC DJ's (can't remember if it was Scott Muni) was interviewing Neil Innes and brought up the subject of "Get up and Go" being in both Messrs. Lennon and Harrison's words- "...really ...

Gold looks great when it is a one piece flat pickguard, especially against a solid color body. IMHO gold two piece pickguards don't look quite as appealing. Please keep that thought in mind since the pictures are not 3-D.

How about the bottom part of the pickguard in white and the top part in ...

Messers Petty and Campbell used Ric solid bodies to great effect, why not a 620?

They are jangly with a bit more mid-range bite then the semi-hollowbodies.

The button top PU's give a pretty good "vintage" jangle tone and also great modern tones as well. It is always possible to swap out the ...

I use these weird "Sharkfin" picks. I think they are made in Sweden mostly because it says so on the pick :-)
They have three edges: a "normal pick shaped" edge, a longer "shark- fin" edge and a serrated edge.

They are different from the Dunlop version in that the plastic they are made from is ...

I had heard Day Tripper was similar to a Buck Owens tune also.
Then there is Spacey Invaders by the Pretenders where the break is the Day Tripper riff with each note given the same beat .

Brass ones

Has anyone had or tried a brass nut on a 4001/4003 bass and if so what were the results.

Let it Be -Naked

Scott Muni a Dj in the NY area has been playing the new/old release of "Let it be-Naked". This is the album without Phil Spector's spector.

The mix is great! It is funny hearing the songs without "the wall of sound" they sound so much crisper and musical IMHO.

Worth keeping an ear out.

I like your idea of a lefty/righty splice. The only problem I can forsee would be the placement of pickguards and control knobs due to the cavities.
As a suggestion, make photocopies of some RIC guitar photos, in particular the models you mention. Then pretend you are carrying out the ...

Owen:
It is usually the dimention of core wire that gives strings their stiff/loose feel. That is why a 105 string can feel stiffer from one brand to another, while the tension is relatively the same.

p.s. this is a good topic & your thread may turn into a big discussion after all.

While I am sure the quality is fine, the guitars look like the lovechildren between old Kay & EKO guitars.

The pickups look somewhat like mid 80's Peavey PU's. Clapton once played a Kay, I am surprised they are not more sought after.
