Apologies for resurrecting this old topic, but I've wanted a Starfire for a while now and I think my favorite out of the lot is the Starfire IV. Does anyone here have any experience with these guitars to share?

I think the 12-strings sound lovely, too, but that's a whole other discussion..

Hm. From someone who has wanted an AC30 for most of my guitar-playing career, this discussion has been illuminating. If -- well, when -- I get to the point of deciding to buy one, I'll have to try out an AC15 first.

I have spent some time thinking about this issue and I've come to agree with vintagemusicgear. I think it's something that you get used to over time and it's one of the distinguishing features of these guitars. That said, I would always choose a guitar I know I will spend time playing -- if I bought ...

The inlays are beautiful! I love the way the crushed pearl looks on old Rickenbackers.. stunning feature. It looks so different that I was really blown away the first time I saw a guitar that had them in person.

Montzeuma Browns are really pretty in person.

I used to really like Fireglo, but I think I've become partial to Mapleglo recently after being surrounded by beautiful ones lately (not mine, unfortunately..).

375s are so lovely..

Please share your experiences with the Mangans. I'm really curious to hear if/how they are different from the stock Rickenbacker strings. (BTW, I am a very happy user of TI flats on my Rick360/12.)

Will do. So many options to explore here -- I probably change strings more often than is necessary ...

Hm, interesting. I have a set of Rickenbacker strings just sitting around but after reading this thread and doing some research, I think I'll try and find some Mangans next.
