Re: TOO CYNICAL FOR WORDS...

Maybe Gibson should make a couple of 9/11 models.....

As if people don't feel bad enough about 9/11 already.
I'm not really comfy with that last remark towards the company I work for.

I'm sure Fender did this with honourble intentions. That the end result is kitschy rubbish is a matter ...

Re: Sad Day for Me

I found myself in similar straits about 8 years ago--unemployed, and the rent kept coming due. Ended up selling my ONLY guitar at the time--my FIRST real electric--the '64 Fender Jaguar I'd had for over 20 years. Still stings to this day, but it was the right thing to do at the time.
You're doing ...

Re: TOO CYNICAL FOR WORDS...

On the brighter side, I believe that each one is a one-off. Thank god if they won't be turning up in my neighborhood.

From the manufacturer's web site:
"After going on brief display at a Fender event in California in mid-September, Eric Clapton will play the guitars during fall dates on his 2011 ...

Re: TOO CYNICAL FOR WORDS...

I'm not quite as offended after reading the whole story on Fender's website--at least they're not going to be some kind of mass-production.
I suppose it's for a good cause, but still.....just doesn't seem quite right.

Re: Musicians Friend Rickenbacker

I've done a fair amount of business with MF over the past few years.
Reasonable prices, and they've NEVER charged me a cent for shipping to overseas military addresses.
They even re-sent a shipment that had gotten lost in the military postal system--about $200 worth of stuff. Didn't even make me ...

Gotta agree with her on this one. It's a GUITAR. It won't collect dust if you play it!

Ah well.....just received the definitive "negative" from Missus on the display case.
She's been quite understanding through this whole thing, so I can live with that.
