A work of art should be displayed, right?

Post by Prairie Hunter »

A little over 2 weeks from now, I will finally be able to lay eyes and hands on my new 330/6. "Stoked" doesn't begin to cover it....

Anyway, I got to thinking....a work of art such as this SHOULD be displayed (when not being played), shouldn't it?
Leaving it out in the open on a stand isn't a great idea--the western edge of the South Dakota prairie can be a dusty place (2 cats and a dog just add to it), and Missus' biggest complaint about my budding collection of guitars is that she doesn't want to have to dust them. Fair enough.
So, what about one of those lighted, glass-fronted, lockable wall-mount "shadow box" display cases? Hang my blue beauty in the living room, where it can be admired (if not worshipped) constantly.

Is that a bit much?

Just keep in mind, you'll need a small table below it to hold the incense and candles that must always be lit.

Oh, absolutely! A thing worth doing is worth doing right, after all.

Ah well.....just received the definitive "negative" from Missus on the display case.
She's been quite understanding through this whole thing, so I can live with that.

I'm not sure how she's going to handle waking up mornings to find the guitar nestled between us in bed, but she's got a good sense of humor (usually), so we'll see.....

Gotta agree with her on this one. It's a GUITAR. It won't collect dust if you play it!

I'm afraid I'm with Hal on this one. It's well done and attractive but it makes me think of Sleeping Beauty.

Wouldn't work in my house--horizontal surfaces tend to collect junk (and spills) rather quickly in my house--we are a cluttered and clumsy family.
