I purchased a Boss DR-880 a month or so ago and I absolutely love it. I have done a little recording with it and worked out great.

James Jamerson never changed his strings unless one broke. Like he said the " the dirt keeps the funk".

I have tried the DR red devils once. They look cool on my Fireglo 4003, but I wasn't impressed with the sound and changed them.

Desert Gold 330 at G/C

Don't know if this will be of interest to anyone, but I was recently at the Guitar Center in Nashville and they currently have a 330 in Desert Gold. It is in really good condition. The asking price is $1200.

I have owned a Gretsch Broadkaster. It was a fine bass, just kind of bla (IMHO). There is a great company out of Texas that specializes in short scales basses. If you're into short scale basses check them out at www.birdsongguitar.com . They’re true artist and they won’t break your bank. I have one ...

Mesa does have some strict rules. I know for a fact dealers can't ship a new mesa boogie amp from one Mesa dealer to another Mesa dealer outside a 50 mile radius. Even if they're the same store and owned by the same company.

I own a Mesa Boogie Venture 2x10 combo and I absolutely love it. Plenty of power (600W) amazing sound with onboard EQ and“solo” settings which can both be turned off with switches on the amp or foot pedal. It is a little on the heavy side (about 120 pounds) but I don't mind when I plug into her.

I am reminded of an earlier posting of Stanley Clarke playing a Rickenbacker 4000. When I watched the video attached to the posting the 4000 appeared stock to me.
