Re: Further mods

Now that's a clever mod. Nicely done.

Re: 660/6 neck vs 620 or 350 neck

I own a 650C VH and a 660/12. It's true that the 650 and 660 necks are wider across the fretboard, but the ones I've played have felt much shallower than most 300's. You've heard of some 300's having a "club" or "baseball bat" neck? Very round, very deep, and for some, very uncomfortable to play ...

That 330 on the left is my ideal Fireglo. Lovely.

Re: 360/12c63

For the record, I'm 37. And it takes three years to graduate law school in this neck of the woods, too, not including articles. Better get that order in, Paul. You'll need the incentive.

I know however long it takes, it'll be worth the wait. In the meantime, I'd love to see some Jetglo examples.

Re: 360/12c63

I finally put in an order for a c63 in Jetglo. I figure it'll arrive just in time for my fortieth birthday. My hope is that it'll help ease the pain of that milestone a bit.

Re: New 650 Bridge

I'd love to see a 650C made with Schaller's "ruthenium" parts. I think it would look very sharp indeed, although the pick-up housings would probably be impossible to properly match.

Re: New 650 Bridge

The older bridges were made by ABM, which unfortunately no longer exists. The person in charge of ABM (I apologize for not remembering his name) passed away and apparently took most of his design and manufacturing secrets with him. There were rumours of a stronghold of new old stock ABM parts at one ...

Re: white & gold....are you feeling it??

I like it. The only change I'd make is to swap out the silver-topped knobs for some vintage black ones. It's unusual but by no means an eyesore. Leave it and see if it grows on you.

Re: The One That Got Away

The one that I miss the most is the 650C MG VH that I sold to Steve Wood. I know it's in good hands, but I really miss it. I sold it just to cull the herd. I had way too many guitars at the time and I was trying to be "ruthless" about what I kept and what I let go. Sometimes it just has to be done ...

Re: Are they putting something new in the water at RIC?

Just wondering idly and aloud: will UV be applied to the C and V series guitars? It wouldn't bother me any, but I can see some purists taking issue. The flipside is that continuing with CV would add a really unwelcome layer of logistical complexity to the production of those guitars.

I couldn't ...

Re: Dealer Backlog Easing?

I've also noticed that certain dealers seem to have fewer Rics on order (i.e. they seem to be restocking with less frequency). The guitars that are in stock also seem to hang around a bit unless they've got some sort of special feature. I confess I put it all down to an impending economic slowdown ...

After a couple of years of backlog reduction, it's nice to hear that there might be something a little different in '09.

Re: 650c Bridges changed?

JDog: I'm afraid it looks like the 380L PZ bridge will never return. It was actually discontinued (if I remember rightly) by ABM prior to the death of Mr. Mueller. I believe this was a factor in RIC's decision to cease production of the 380L (in addition to slow sales). I don't know if anyone ...
