First saw YES as the opening act for Jethro Tull during the Aqualung tour at the Seattle Center Coliseum. Maybe summer of '71? Your Move/All Good People had barely hit the radio airwaves.

Using a V63 with pyramids through an Ampeg B100R - Lows at about 2 o'clock, high and low mids at 12 to 1 o'clock and high end around 2 to 3 o'clock. Back off the treble on the bridge pup. I'm close. I couldn't get this close with my '76 4001 no matter what I did. I have a set of chromes on my F####r...

Went to the local GC last night to take another look. I still really like alot of the sounds that little VOX makes but the longevity issues I hear about still concern me. Hoping several of you will comment. I also took a look at an Epiphone valve JR. Not nearly as versatile, (one volume knob.) but t...

VOX AD-VT series

I'm considering the purchase of a AD30VT but it appears that some you are having problems with at least a few similiar models already.
Anyone that owns 'em care to share their thoughts?
Just how hard is it to access that tube if need be?

Thanks for responding. It appears from what you stated that as long as I don't plan to remove the strap pins, everything should be okay and it should cause no damage to the guitar. Thanks again.

This thread came just in time. I was just looking to purchase another guitar and noticed a brown glue around the base of the strap pins. The guy that owned it said he uses "gorilla glue" when he installs strap locks and has done this to all his guitars. Is this reason enough to pass on the...

Bass tones on Abbey Road

Anyone care to take a shot at what was used to get the bass tones on the "Abbey Road" album?? Sounds like a F**der all over that record to me. Anyone hear the Ric or the Hofner in there?

Thanks to everyone for responding. I'll take a look at the Ric brand nylon tapes. Any other suggestions or if anyone else out there uses 'em, I'd be most interested in hearing opinions on sound and brands.

Dave,
Thanks for the info. Do they seat in the nut? I guess that's where I have the most concern. I don't want to widen the slots to accept them.

Jeffrey, I agree. I can also get a pretty darn aggressive tone out of either of my Rics strung with flats. Steve, sounds like you've used nylon strings on the 4005 for a while. Being unfamiliar with them, one of my biggest concerns has been getting a gauge that will work. After a couple quick search...

Okay, I'm a flats guy. My V63 has Pyramids and the '76 4001 currently has Daddario chromes. Looks as if most of you want the Squire/Lee tones. So maybe not the best place to ask about nylons. One post even says "don't think I'd ever try them on a fretted". Why? What got me curious about ny...

Nylon strings

Haven't been at the forum in a long time but I have a burning question. Anyone use nylon strings on their Ric 4001? I'm thinking about giving a set a try but don't want to modify the nut to make 'em fit. Any suggestions out there? Everything I've seen for nylon wraps appears to be a fairly heavy gau...

The bass lines in that song are incredible. I believe I read a similiar article where George said it was Paul really making an effort to make the song as good as possible. But I'd still like to know what bass was used. It really doesn't sound like a Ric or a Hofner but with all the studio tweaking, ...

Does anyone know, or care to make an educated guess as to what bass McCartney was used on Harrisons "Something"?
