Wow, hard to pick a winner there!
I'd dearly love a CS, but that blue Cheyenne is absolutely stunning.
Tell me, how do these 4004's sound, are they still classic Ric bass?

Re: C64S versus standard 4001 & stock 4003
Well strangely enough I have no interest in Paul Mcartney at all, so it's perhaps a bit weird to buy such a bass
I don't now, I'm no wiser after sleeping on it... Do you guys think I can get the same tone from a 4003 that I would get out of a C64?

Re: C64S versus standard 4001 & stock 4003
Well I want as thin a neck as possible - on the Musicman Bongo I have now, the neck is too fat, I've only little fingers...
And I also don't like the upside-down headstock, but otherwise I think it's beautiful. The matt finish, the dot markers, I assume the fretboard is oiled and not varnished ...

Re: C64S versus standard 4001 & stock 4003
Me again :)
Hmmmm, I didn't get the chance to visit any stores, but I do have a brand-new 4001C64S on offer to me for €2200 (and I will haggle a bit lower yet). This is a pretty good price and I guess I'm not likely to lose money on that should I decide to sell in the future...

Re: Is Mapleglo a discontinued finish on 4003?
But I queried stock with one (very large and well-known) store and got the answer: "the maple glow will not come to stock, sorry" - does this mean they won't personally stock it, or that Ric aren't producing it any more?
By the phrasing, I would have said this was from a copy shop in China which ...

Try Mapleglo.
Maple Glow was very limited edition made out of maples from Chernobyl.
Even the owners of these are now rare!
Hey, that was ...

Thanks coolingitdown - you've put sufficient doubt into my mind now that I'll go and seek the models in a shop to compare.
Cheers

C64S versus standard 4001 & stock 4003
Hi folks, my first post
Back in the mid 80's I had a black '77 4001. Can you believe that I swapped it in '89 for a Hohner Steinberger copy? Basically I needed a guitar I could carry on my back on my motorcycle - which I did, but it essentially meant I sold it for around £180. Of course, Ric's were ...
