Re: Geddy's New Rickenbacker

Geddy played his new Rick last night. Looked great on stage, sounded like Geddy, but the shoes were off.

He used it on By-tor.

That makes sense to me, given how he plays with his fingers...
I've been working on his catalog of work for quite some time, and lately I am really struggling with it ...

Re: Geddy's New Rickenbacker

I'm not a big fan of blue guitars or basses, but I absolutely LOVE that vintagy gold pickguard that harkens back to a simpler time in the late '50s early 60s when Roger Rossmiesl was still working for Rickenbacker. Everything else I see on it is very much to my liking! :D :) :D

Yeah, I already TRIED polishing it with a Zebra, but the darn thing ran off into the jungle, started a jam band with his buddies...I had a helluva hard time getting it back!

Re: Chris Squires RM DC172

That's just Ric-o-porn, somehow I just NEVER get tired of fireglo!
Now, Teeder, when you get tired of that bass, you need to sell it to me! Don't go throwing it in the trash, like you did with your '67 RM1999...

Re: Chris Squires RM DC172

Yeah, and I like the neck profile of those early '90s models v63 and CS so much, I wouldn't want to take the yime to refinish, its a cool look even if it is more yellow than a Squire Ltd. Ed. should be...

Re: Chris Squires RM DC172

This is a bit off topic, but a few years ago I acquired an early 4001CS made in 1991 and like many in the early numbers it has yellowed into what looks like a Yellow Cab limited edition. It plays like a dream and I love it, but I'm curious if there is any rubbing or polishing compound that will ...

Re: New 4030S (!?)

Two toasters right in the middle there, what do they sound like? I would guess they might be more mid-rangy, perhaps?

I like them better than the C series basses, I just could never wrap my head around the reversed headstock, you shouldn't mess with what Roger Rossmiesl wrought!

No sign of any of ...

Re: Anyone know anything about the Ampeg V4BH amplifier?

I went there first, but then I found that they have gone to a subscription service at Talkbass, at $100 a year and frankly a lot of the back-biting I've seen over there made me hope I could find an answer here...

Re: Anyone know anything about the Ampeg V4BH amplifier?

The one I have has only one light, but it turns red or green depending on whether standby is engaged. Its the '90s one that was manufactured during the time when Ampeg was owned by St Louis Music.

Anyone know anything about the Ampeg V4BH amplifier?

I was looking for a V4B back in the early aughts, found a V4BH on craigslist at a decent price, figured it was about the same thing, so I bought it. At first I figured it was practically the same as a V4B but now I've heard that this amp was designed to be a V4 that responded more like an SVT, which ...
