Re: 5 string 4001 or 4003

Can a 5 string mod be done to the '73 bass that is up for grabs in the For sale forum?

Re: BREAKING UP NICE OLD RICKS FOR PROFIT...

I have done it but not for profit but to clear some clutter. Wish I hadn't so that I can replace the parts now that I want to sell. Just goes to show, don't sell Ric parts even if you don't care for some of the hardware.

5 string 4001 or 4003

Dream of dream bass for me. That would be the best of both worlds. wouldn't need a second bass only for backup. Did Ric ever make 5 string basses or are they all customized? How do I get one? Will Ric make to order? If so, save the dough if possible these days.

Yorkville 400B and an SWR triad cabinet with no gizmos at my feet except for a DI once in a while. Love the depth and clarity these units have together.

Re: Favorite Bassists

I think I's add Andy West, Dave Hope (Kansas original bass player, Why is it no one mentions any Reggae bass Players like Family Man Barrett, or Sticky from Inka Inka? Bass holds down the forte in Reggae and is heard and felt calling Jah. Most of the Roots reggae are great bass players. They may not ...

73 4001 necks vs. 4003 necks

Hello folks,
thinking about selling my 73 4001 and purchasing a 4003. How do the necks compare in width, pitch and depth? I played on a 78 4001 and compared it to the 73. NO comparison. The 73's neck was a lot narrower on the backside and narrower depthwise. Are they similar to the 73 or 78? Thanks

Re: '73 4001 Pickup Question

Look at the bridge pickup. Are they bumps or screws. If they are screws then you have the pre transitional 4001. If you find they are bumps then you own the transitional bass.

Re: How many basses do you bring to a gig

Hello Folks,
I'm not a newbie to this forum. I went by another handle. Couldn't remember p/w u/n so I reinvented one. to answer this cool thread, I always use two basses. I have broken strings on stage and at practice and when installing new strings. I use a 1973 Rick and a 5 string. In process of ...
