"THE BEATLES WITH TONY SHERIDAN

Post by jeff »

Just released on October 30th is a new 2 CD set that finally sets the record straight on the Beatles/Tony Sheridan Polydor material. "THE BEATLES WITH TONY SHERIDAN: Beatle Bop - Hamburg Days" is produced by The Bear Family label in Germany exactly 40 years ago after the release of "My Bonnie" has created the definitive look at these historic recordings, offering a staggering 38 tracks (19 actually per disc: disc one is mono, disc two is stereo), their complete output for the Polydor label. Each track has been restored from tapes that in some cases were considered lost or even nonexistent. The 2 CD set is going for around $31.95. But most may want to seek out the deluxe boxed version which includes a 124 page hardcover book which includes a treasure trove of unreleased material. With the cooperation of Bert Kaempfert's widow, the label has unearthed one-page hand written autobiographies that Bert asked John, Paul, George & Pete to pen after signing on with Polydor! Also shown for the first time is the contract between the Beatles and Kaempfert in full color! The book also includes dozens of unreleased photos and documents and great liner notes. And to top it off a full color discography of every known LP, EP, single, and picture sleeve from around the world! The text is by Hans Olof Gottfridsen whose previous work "THE BEATLES From Cavern To Star Club" was a landmark piece of work. The boxed edition is going for around $60 to $78 depending on where you can find it.
I highly recommend this set for a place of honor in your collections.

Is it really out now? According to a couple on-line stores it gives a late November release.

I received mine on last Monday (11/5). I'm sure it depends on who you're dealing with. Music Machine and Collector's Choice Music got theirs on the promised date.
