Hello from new member.

Post by octagon »

Hi,I am new to this board.Last week I bought my first brand new Rickenbacker,a 340 with vintage toaster pickups in Fireglow.I got the silver vintage case too! This is my second Rickenbacker as I used to own a 325C58 in Jetglow but I sold it a couple of months ago.Actually I have only been playing guitar for about 6 months(teaching myself)and I just started taking lessons 2 weeks ago.Don't laugh but I am over 50 years old.Weird huh?Anyway I have loved Rickenbackers since I was a kid.I just got 3 DVDs of my favorite 60's TV show Hullabaloo and it seems as though every band from 1964 to 1966 had at least one Rickenbacker.Growing up I always wanted a 325 like Lennon played or a 12 string like Roger McGuinn. When I was in my 20's in 1978 I saw The Jam at CBGB's Theater in NYC and seeing Paul Weller playing a "blond" Ric rekindled my interest(was it a 330 or 360?Fireglow?).Anyway I just wanted to say I am glad to meet a group of fellow Rickenbacker enthusiasts.Hope you wont mind any dumb questions I may be asking(blend?).

A very warm welcome to the forum Mitch. Dumb questions? I've been playing Rics for 27 years & I still ask dumb questions!

Welcome aboard.
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

I always liked when they ran out into the ocean playing their guitars - with no cable connected!!!
Amazing tone quality with no amp!! Image

Really nice....and I don't laugh at people over 50 (with Rics or without), otherwise I'd been hysterics over myself all the time...Welcome to the forum!

Welcome from me also, Mitch. I'm just plain dumb!!

Congrats on the 340. Nice to have another 'chronologically challenged' member of the forum.

Welcome, Mitch! Gotta love that FG. Now, it's time to buy your second Rick before your first one cools off.

Strats and SGs are easy to sell.

Keep those hamsters caged! Don't rabbits chew wood? Careful, now!
