Thankyou...

I have always wanted a Ric...I think now that the brass guard might be staying on.

It is in really nice shape

I played my '76 Fender P today along with Deep Purple's Pictures Of Home, just to hear what it sounds like (I can nail that sound with a Ric), and I came pretty close with the Fender (ash/maple/DR Lo Riders), without even tweaking the amp knobs. It's doable. If you hear the "Ric sound" in your head, you can make a P-bass sound close enough.

Another 76 P'er, cool.

Mine's Swampash/Rosewood.

If you listen to Geddy playing on Exit Stage Left it sounds similar to a p-bass ...

My band was out playing last night ... I took 2 basses ... the p-bass pictured above and a 4003s5 ... I started with the p-bass and after 3/4 of a set I had to switch to the Ric ... the 4003s5 is better with a pick, better with fingers and better thumb slapping ...

I took the p-bass pictured above out and played it at an open jam ... the house bass player was amazed that I got a "Rickenbacker" tone out of it ...

If this is turning into a "let's see your Precision Bass" thread... here are some of mine: the '72 -

And the '76 twins - the one on the right is the Ric impersonator:

Nice P's Ilan.....I always prefer the look of them with the cover on.

Mark ... I usually use Seymour Duncan 1/4 pound or hot ... I am going to try the SD vintage as well ... Since I build my own p and j basses they never have covers ... plus you guys know how I love to palm mute ... covers get in the way for that ...

here's one with Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounders in it ...
