So I am thinking about slimming down the pile

Post by jaymi »

And I cannot decide what to keep and what to let go of.

Currently, there are 5
Union Jack
'80 JG 4003
'86 Ruby
'87 Ruby
'91 Mid Blue

I need to get something else to accomodate the studio (read that as 5 string!!) and am trying to figure if I should just wait or buy/sell/trade

Thoughts boys and girls???

Could you get away with stringing one of your 4003's BEAD? I did that with one of mine and don't even consider a 5-string anymore. I play all over the neck anyway so I really haven't found the loss of the G-string to be a problem.....it is only five missing notes that I only used during rare solos anyway.

"DO IT" to one of the Rubies (or is it Rubys ?). Just a thought......

I would move one of the ruby ones and the 80 4003 ...

you gotta keep the union jack and the 91 is a real player ...

If I was going to part with a Ruby, Sean W will probably have kittens (LEMMY kittens)....

Chris, the 86 ruby has a lot of neck wear, if one was going, it would prob be the jan 87. Why are you interested?!?

The 91 is a killer player...I don't think the union jack will go for pure sentiment and collness reasons.

Brian, I have played fours that way before but if I want the lower tuning I resort to a five.

I am pondering. The '80 is no biggie for me because I am not using it. I am thinking about a Ruby though.....Keep posted.

What kind of 5-string are you considering, Jaymi?
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

What color is the binding/trim on the Ruby one you want to sell?

Jaymi, I agree that you sell one of the Ruby basses since you have another.
I am also curious as to what 5 string bass you are considering.

Why not do a Jeff Rath conversion to one of the Rubys?

Jim, the 4000 went back to the swami. I had enough with trying to keep the neck straight.

Joey, I am debating on 5'ers right now.

Henny, you're funny. I don't think I could give up the UJ-glo.

Ken, I cannot do a Rathenbacker 5 because the spacing is too tight for me.
