Jeff, that 4003S/5 looks great with either pickguard.

I got tired of the cute white pickguard ... I went with the I mean business black one ... the white one was too happy looking ... I like light colors with the black pickguard ...

also I like the new oil finish ... and the more rounded body and the new improved fake walunt headwings ...

I've always liked those ones Jeff. Stunning looks. I like the humbucker pickups too...very similar to my 230 model single coils. AND I like the bridge too. And the neck thru construction....

But, I need to come up with my own design. I have plenty of time though. I'm only 32. Besides, I've been on an amp kick lately fixing/modding/building tube amps.

Hey Jeff! Interesting you brought back the black hardware. I dig the fake walnut headwings...

But personally I always thought the black hardware and stuff looked terrible. But you mde it look ok.

Glad you are enjoying the bass!

I got tired of Blue ... and something had to go ... I still have 8 ric basses ... that blue is a player ... one of our forum members got it ...

Could you make a bass out of a 650? I suppose ... the body wings would have to be delaminated from the neck and a bass neck put in there ... also the body wings are too short ... the picture I put up there was lengthened in photoshop ... it would be easier just to make one from scratch ... based on the 4004 bass and 650 guitar ...

Jeff, I don't really like blue basses either, although my blue beast gets alot of compliments about it's looks and sound. I prefer the more massive body on the one you had than mine.

My mapleglo 4003s5 is the same year as the blue one I sold ... they were both 1990 and both have excellent necks ...

Jeff isnt the headstock of the 650's exactly the same as the 3001, and 2000 basses, or is it different?

So why would one have to change the neck?

I definitely love the headstock as I do on the 2000 range!
