I found my Ric!!!

Post by brett_bottomley »

Yesterday I was looking through my local used stuff paper (the bargain news) and saw a listing for an "81 mapleglo ric in good condition $450. Wow, and it was 1 mile from my house. I ran right over played it WOW!! THIS IS THE SOUND I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR. It has two minor mods with no holes drilled and is the best playing and soundin Ric I have come across. I immediatly bought it for $400
went home and sent my new 4003 back to Musicians friend. That was a really good bass, this is a great one I used it on a rock gig last night amazing. I'm in Ric heaven.

Great price. What type of mods were done to it?
Above e-mail is inactive. try ed_ardzinski@**** where **** is Hotmail.com or Yahoo.com. I tend to see things inthe hotmail box quicker...

I haven't seen a Ric priced that low in 15 years.
Why did you send your new one back, Rics are an addiction and you'll end up with 10 like most of the rest of us here, I have 6 and have one more on the way. The new 4003's have much more balls than the older ones also.

Congrats Brett, that's a great deal if it is in nice condition and not irreversibly modded.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

I sent the 4003 back because My isuzu trooper died last friday. The mods were, the silver pickup mounting plate has been changed to white plastic using the same holes, and black grover tuners. I have a bid on the mounting plate and may change the tuners although they work great. There was a neck crack that was repaired by a pro I had it checked out by my bass tech and he said everything looks great. I guess the repair is the reason for the price. I still would expect to get a lot more on Ebay especially for a ric that is such a great player. The bass Gods saw my dilema and smiled upon me.

Brett, you should have called Joe Isuzu first.
