Peter Levett: If you're talking about the Fireglo 381 I don't think it's a special order...
I've seen a few Fireglo's for sale. Though not too many.
Here's pictures of one that was for sale at The Rickenbacker Page:

Although they are both very pretty I like Robert's one better.
How about some close-ups Rob?

I'll have a go tonight Patrick - but the flame on the one you showed puts mine to shame!
In fact most of the pictures I've seen of 381s show much more impressively figured tops than mine, but mine is the only one I've actually seen in person (I'm a Brit see?) and there's no way in the world I'll ever get rid. I'll be buried with this baby!

Patrick Magee, you are missing an important point about my 381 being a possible "one off", it is a lefty (The photos you added are righty). It was a custom order and the bridge pick up is in a different position to normal. I have its history which supposedly links it to Roger McGuinn (he was said to have special ordered it for a friend who later sold it to me, but I don't know if it is true or not).

Patrick M:
At the time that I bought my MB 381 from Wildwood Guitars, they showed no less than three others on their website, and two of these were new FG's--a 6 and a 12.
I think that, like most other non-bass Ricks, FG might be in a virtual tie with MG for most popular and hence most common standard finish.

Just in from Kevin Kunney a November 1987 381/12V69. How gorgeous is this?

Wow. The figuring on the wood is great!
Gold guards, huh?
Nicely aged FG, too. Lovely color!
