Ric introductions

Post by ozover50 »

I visited a client today and took my Rics with me because we had discussed my recent purchases and he's never seen one in the flesh (wood?) let alone played one (he's got a Strat and a locally built Cole Clark - very nice). I also took the little Roland Cube 30 just in case we had time to plug in - we did!!.

He was absolutely blown away!! Loved everything about both the 660/12 and 330/6 - action, sound, looks, etc. and now can't wait get hold of a Ric himself (wife notwithstanding) - probably a 330.

This led me to wonder whether many forum members have introduced others to Rics and had such a positive response that has led to a purchase (or for that matter a negative one that hasn't).

I'm thinking there are probably thousands out there that haven't had the experience - should we spread the word or be selfish and keep certain things to ourselves?

the lead guitarist who has a '60s AC30 loves once in a while playing my 67 360...unfortunalely he is a "Fenderman" no way to convince him that ricks are versatile just like a fender is

I went to see The Czars (who live here in Denver) at a local art gallery last year...after the gig, their bass player Chris grabbed me by the shoulder and said to a group of his young friends, "This is how I'm gonna look when I get old!" After the laughter had died down a bit, he added, "...and I'm gonna play a Rickenbacker!"

Finally, some respect!
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

The guitarist in my band is (like me) eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new 660/12 (should be tomorrow!). He has been playing a Tele for 10 years now and is curious about Ric's. He is always interested in a second guitar, but hasn't liked the Gibsons and PRS's enough to get one of them. He's been impressed with the quality of my 4003's, but there just isn't anywhere here in the middle of the cornfields to try out a Ric. Hopefully the 660/12 will impress....

A neighbor of one of my friends in San Diego is in the market for a 12-string Ric, mainly from having played a couple of mine on occasion. I have my Ricdar working for one that's not too expensive (he has a Unimog that needs work before it is fully road and off-road ready).

My condolences on the Unimog.

as far as im consondered.....Rickenbacker and Vox owe me some kind of deal!

Our rythym guitarist was allowed to join only if he got a Vox amp and rick guitar (330/6---which is now myne.....and a 325c58 and vox amp)

and our bassist needed one too (rickenbacker 4003 and vox T-100/T-60
