Get hold of Joji Barris. His father and Dick Dean built it.

His e-mail is [email protected]

I think that RIC needs a RIC-mobile. Paul could design it. What would it look like?? :-)

It would have to be fireglo!
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

Gene, you're kidding, right?

A bit of history laced with personal opinion FWIW:

The car was built in '67 or '68 by George Barris as a co-promotion with Vox and Paul Revere and the Raiders. I've seen several promo shots with the Raiders hanging off it. It's rather shamelessly ugly and is typical of George's work once his brother Sam died and George got the Hollywood bug. Sam was the true craftsman of the two and could "do" cars with the best of them. Once George moved over to the Hollywood side of the car biz and started doing all the promo stuff, the donkey work was done by folks such as Dick Dean and Dean Jeffries. They, of course, moved on to establish their own shops decades ago.

As to how a Rick mobile would look, if Barris did it, he would probably locate the Voxmobile, buy it back, and turn it into a similarly-themed Fireglo nightmare. Then somebody would get a huge bill.

Paul, I was kidding...I am old enough to remember George Barris, Vox, and Paul Revere and the Raiders...

Gene, I thought so. I'm not particularly literal, but our language has a hard time expressing tone of voice or a wink in print...

That's the animal. Subtle, huh?

You oughta see George's living room furniture...
