I almost hesitate to call The Eggmen a Beatles tribute band but we are. The music is really our only concern. We try to get it exact. We wear matching black suits in the first set, and groovy stuff in the second, but no Sgt.Pepper suits or wigs. And we don't call ourselves Ringo or George, or say things like "This one's from our second film, Help". We do do the accents but it's more for fun than anything else, and the fans like it. We don't really do mannerisms but we do use the "correct" gear. So we do some of the tribute things and some we don't.
AND the money's good, and I love gigging/travelling, and I've met a lot of people that I wouldn't have if I wasn't in this band.

I personally prefer seeing bands as themselves covering Beatle tunes (Oasis comes to mind, but I'm not a big fan, so that's moot).

I can dig if people use Casinos, Rics, Strats, or Hofners for the covers, because it's faithful to the Beatles' 'sound', but to go as far as getting similar haircuts or whatnot seems a bit too much. I would think that would just put too much pressure on a band to have to perform exactly as the Beatles did, I mean, trying to emulate one of history's greatest rock bands night in, night out would give me ulcers and stress pains!

That's just one man's opinion though. Image Differences make the world go 'round.

I like SEEING tribute bands, but playing in a cover band, if there is a song I REALLY like, I don't play it. I get tired of them, sometimes. Rotating things in and out is a good way to keep things fresh.
