Jason,

I'm not aware of any across-the-board raising of prices, but I suppose it's possible. A brand new Rickenbacker, at the going rates, is a stunningly good value when compared to their competitors, IMHO.

Musicians Friend is definitely one good place to look for Ric's, but if you are searching, also look to more local/regional dealers, such as these:

http://www.the-music-connection.com/ric.htm

http://www.classicaxe.com/

http://www.edromanguitars.com/

I have bought from the first two, with great results. Highly recommended. There are quite a few others, too. Search around!!

Washington Music still has them for $995 and Classic Axe is around $1100.
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

It's possible that shipping costs are what has actually gone up because up the jump in prices of gas. Image

But not for long. A new price list takes effect tomorrow: http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdf/pricelist.pdf .

This is the first increase in many years. Looks like the increases range from 5 to 8%.

Oh well, nobody likes to see it but I'm glad they've been able to hold the line for so long.

Of course, like everybody else, I hate to see the prices increase BUT for the quality I still think Rics are a great deal.

If RIC imports any of their hardware or any other materials they must be experiencing rising costs - I believe the US dollar has slipped in value against many foreign currencys.
A positive outcome of this (for me at least) is that buying Ricks is a lot more attractive for me. A couple of years ago the Canadian dollar was worth around $0.63 US dollars - now it's up around $0.83 .

Cannae beat the good old Pound.

$1.89 to a £1.

the price that Ric charges the dealer probably hasn't changed in a while ... however the retailers are free to raise and lower prices daily ... so if you see a price hike it is a retail price hike and probably not a wholesale price hike ...

But there is definitely a price hike effective tomorrow. Dealer wholesale will be going up. Dealers may or may not raise prices on currently ordered guitars but they'll almost surely need to raise them on future orders.
