Lakland Joe Osbourne Flats

Post by johnashfield »

Has anyone tried these strings? I was looking for pyramids, and the store I usually go to only has these flats, and they were raving about them.

John: I have heard they are nice strings as well. Unless they are over the top in price, I say go for them and give us a full report here. I also know a Joe Osborne lover who may take them at a bargain should you not like them. How much are they?

I'm surprised a local store has them. AFAIK the only official source is directly from Lakland, through the store on their website. They're half the price (or less) of Pyramids.

I've never tried them, but I know they're made by GHS, supposedly to Lakland and Joe's specs. I don't know how close they are to GHS Precision Flats, but I like those much better than Pyramids.

They have been discused quite a bit at the FDP http://www.fenderforum.com/forum.html over the years but if you go there and search, I suggest just using the search term "lakland joe" since his last name is often misspelled (it's Osborn).

I have a slightly used set that was given to me by Dan Lakin about a year ago. I would be happy to send them to you.
