I don't know why, Paul but I have always pictured you as something like Peter Garrett. You both bear a striking resemblance to that giant Galapagos tortoise you showed us in an earlier thread.

Sorry to hear about your prior difficulties (glad that you're around, though - this place just wouldn't be the same without you!!)

Hope you had a nice dinner!

Cheers!

Hi Everyone,

Well I can vouch for the fact that Howard is as pleasant in person as he is on the forum - a top bloke. I enjoyed catching up with him yesterday and sharing Rickenbacker stories.

Stan, the 360-12 V64 in Jetglo was a recent pickup on Aussie eBay. I'm using it as a stand-in until I bring my '66 360-12 home from the US in June (it's being looked after by a friend).

The main Rickenbacker player in Midnight Oil was Martin Rotsey. He used a late 60s Red or Burgundy 360-12 (new style, toasters etc) in the film clips to the songs "Power and the Passion", "Read About It", "Best of Both Worlds" and "Dreamworld". He also used a late 60s 360F-12 in Fireglo in the video clips for "Blue Sky Mining", "King of the Mountain". The other guitarist, Jim Moginie, picked up the 360-12 for the video clip of "One Country", and finally the drummer Rob Hirst can be seen playing a Jetglo 330 in the clip for "In The Valley". All of these clips are available on the DVD 20,000 Watt RSL.

Paul, yesterday Howard and I were discussing whether we might one day catch up with you in Australia. I would be interesting to see the local reaction to your Peter Garrett hairstyle and facial features!

Another famous Aussie guitarist is also fond of 360Fs. Here's a couple of shots of Tim Rogers from the band You Am I with his 360Fs....very nice guitars. I'll have two of those please sir, gift wrapped thanks!

I agree about the 360F's Darren

Have them washed & sent to my tent!
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

Very kind of you, Darren but you haven't seen me at my worst!!

That picture of Tim on the right is interesting - looks like he's a bit excited (or maybe he's getting a static rub off the mike stand!!).

Sensational guitars!!

Howard and Darren:

It's always time or money, never both...

Seriously, Oz is a place I've always wanted to visit. Someday soon, I think.

Tim Rogers is one lucky bloke.

I almost had a heart attack when I saw those pictures. After calming down, I am now of the mind that those are the BEST, COOLEST, and most AWESOME 360F's I've ever seen. At least amoug the 360F's that I've seen that were not made by Rickenbacker...

The 'orange one' for sure isn't real. I'm still thinking about the MG...

We need a 360F expert. Help!

(I'm tempted to start a new thread)

Good idea John. Go for it. There looks to be a Gretsch tailpiece on the red finished one.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Well I don't want to ruin the fun. But they are all fake...

Tim doesn't own a Rickenbacker...

(He is still lucky)

On the MG: Tailpiece is wrong, proportions wrong--pickguard is right shape, but too close to the edge of lower bout.

No "catseye" soundholes on either!

Have I begun to redeem myself?

I of course wondered, after hearing tales about how rare any Rick is in Oz, how this guy got his hands on two of the rarest.

These are pretty good copies. What tipped me was that the 'orange' one had a mono output...

The inlays looked wrong also...

Yep, should have looked closer myself - picked up on the Gretsch tailpiece as soon as I looked at the other thread.

And it wasn't even an April 1 post!!
