My Trans-Red Cheyenne II for sale...

No, you see... this is where it gets confusing...
I don't dispue the fact that the Lakland Bob Glaub is a P-body, and the Joe Osborn is a J-body et al...
The reason that Chris's Lakland is mentioned as a Joe Osborn is because it has a Joe Osborn neck, a distinguishing feature he specifically ordered because of its tighter width at the nut... I forget the specs.
He chose this neck because he wanted to get a replacement bass with a neck as close as possible to his old 75 Jazz Bass, except Rosewood, for tracks like "Sweet Dreams" where the Ric was deemed inappropriate, seen here.
So, conclusion: It's a Lakland Joe-Glaub-Bob-Osborn!

I've been wanting to check out a Lakland. You guys seem to like them, so, I would imagine that they are great basses.
I really like the looks of the Daryll Jones model. Mark, can you give me the "product profile" ?
Just for the record, are you sure that Squire's Jazz is a '75 ?, I only thought Fen**r did the black block on maple inlay from '72-'73???

No, you're wrong! It's a Bobbyjo Glauborn!
LOL

- Scott - You're totally right, I never meant to type '75, goodness knows why I did.
It's a '72, yup... the first track he used it on was "No Opportunity Neccessary" - and a bloody good sound it made, too!
Odd, 'cause can never really dig the sound of maple-necked F****rs.
Re the Lakland D/J - It's a sleak, sleak bass... can't say much more except it's probably the most exquisite Jazz Bass you'll ever play.
Nice thin neck! Maple body, 1-piece Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard (mine anyway), Pearl blocks, matching headstock....
Standard three Jazz pots. The best thing about it is the pickups... they're known as AERO.
ULTRA beefy - Jazz style, with a crisp rasp in the top end... it's litrally a bass you can use with anything... for anything... and reatailing at $1499, they're a bargain. You could easily get one for $900-$1100 new.

Hi Mark!
I just bought me a 1995 4004 Laredo FG from a Netherland music shop. But I have two problems with it: 1) to get used to the neck. 2) Slapping is not so easy as on my 4003. So can you tell me about the neck of your 4004Cii? Could you consider swapping the instruments? Best regards from Germany

Thank you for your fast reply. Sorry but my budget is spent for the next quarter of year. I can't afford to get a third Rick at the moment.
Best regards
Peter

I have a Lakland 55-02 bass and it fills the active 5-string niche well for my arsenal. The necks are smooooooooth. I had a Joe Osborn 5-string for about two weeks and thought it sounded nasally. But then again, I think that about most J-basses. I took a chance on it because it had Lindy Fralin pickups and wanted to hear them. It didn't do anything for me.
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.
Ah...
Well basically the Skylines weren't in production when I purchased these. I have played a Skyline 4 string (44-02?), and while it was quite nice for the price range it didn't have the same feel as it's US counterpart. The neck felt chunkier but it was just missing something.... can't quite put it into words. I know the US models use graphite rods in the neck while the Skylines don't - perhaps this has something to do with it. The Daryl Jones you have looks quite nice - I may have to check one of those out sometime.
