I'm here, Paul.

It so happens I'm dropping in to my local dealer (in Melbourne) tonight, Geoff. I'm picking up my son's BC Rich Platinum Warlock after I managed to break the nut changing strings last Saturday - doh!!

I'll definitely speak to the guys there about it and post the result.

If my spare R tailpiece was a 12-string tailpiece instead of a 6-string one, I'd help out. Sorry!

Ok Geoff, here's the deal (as far as Melbourne is concerned).

The price will be about $90 to $120. I couldn't get that confirmed because it was outside normal wholesale trading hours.

These things aren't something you can just buy over the counter (as I suspected) because RIC don't want to have genuine Rick parts slapped on any old piece of stuff.

We'll need to provide a photo of the guitar and preferably one of the output jack showing the serial number. Photographic evidence of the damage will probably be a good thing also. A photocopy of the serial number card is also necessary. I'm sure that electronic transmission of these will be suitable.

I'm more than happy to do the business for you if you so desire.

I guess step #1 is for you to accept the cost. If it's in your 'affordable' region then I'll get a confirmed written quote from the dealer and get it to you so you know it's all above board and fair dinkum.

I'll arrange postage/delivery etc. so you won't have to worry about any of that jazz.

The dealer (in case you're wondering it's Eastgate Guitars) seems to think that the distributor will have one in stock.

Let me know what you'd like me to do either here or via email.

I hate the idea that your guitar is busted and want to have you 'up and playing' ASAP.

If you're tight for funds, email me and we'll see what we can do.

Cheers,

Howard

BTW, Gary. There doesn't seem to be a spare part listing for a 12 string 'R' tailpiece. RIC only lists black or chrome. Does that mean that they are one and the same? I'd hate to get the wrong bit!!!

We used to be mates. I haven't heard back from Aitch.

I think I've overstepped here...

Howard, I'm pretty sure there are two different ones, as I saw a loose 12-string one just last Sunday; it had twelve separate slots, as opposed to just six.

I have some old parts lists on file at home, and I'll check them later today. Also, I can just check a couple of guitars to see whether they are twelve-slot or not.

Paul, I thought you'd given up on me!! Perhaps you didn't get my last email or two (after the stickers arrived). Get in touch, bro!!

I can lend you three bucks:

Got some small change, too........

Before applying, please enquire about the BOH's interest rates!!

Thanks for that, Gary. The guy at the dealer thinks they are the same part.

Aitch, I did get your e-mail. I'll catch up with you this weekend!

Three bucks? That and another three might get you a cuppa around here. But I said that already, so I'll refrain...

Howard you have made my day,

I will send the photos to you this weekend via this sight. The R tailpiece is crome and has 12 slots for strings.
I look at the 12 string every day without strings and it breaks my heart, lucky my 610 6 string keeps me going.

Thanks again I realy appreciate this.

No worries at all, Geoff. I'll confirm price and availability today if I can.

I'm glad we sorted out the 6/12 slot bizzo. Now I can speak to the dealer with some authority.

Cheers
